This may be a little known fact but Russia was actually a communist country for almost 100 years, organized religion was banned and Marx and Engels never said anything about drinking vodka.
Russians also think they have a very high tolerance for alcohol, and probably think they are just merry and not drunk. Jesus himself provided wine for a wedding feast.

wow...
Iook, according to statistics russia is 4th most drinking country, many russians don't drink at all. I am russian and i have never tasted vodka, i have many friends just like me.
I don't know you guys who said that russians are drunks, in what slums, filthy clubs/pubs and brothels you have met those drinking russians.
Go out to a nice place, and you will see there many cultured refined russian people. Maybe it will help you stop judging what you don't understand. It might also make you wonder who is more civilized, you or them.
Cheers.

During the evolutionary process Russians became dependent on the stuff because water became more expensive than vodka. Now sadly they have to have it the way we have have water or ther dehydrate and die. Evolution is a very mysterious process.

Why do Germans drink beer? Why do Dutchmen drink gin? Why do Frenchmen drink wine? Why do Americans drink whiskey?
It is all made from ingredients which are derived from a crop so in Germany they grow hop(beer), other countries grow grapes(wine), others grow barley, wheat or what have you and you got another product.

To put it simple... Russians are nothing without their vodka. Their vodka is the essence of their life and creates their personality, hydration, and economy. With their consumption of vodka over the years, their urine soon becomes another source of vodka as it is the only liquid that is insinuated in their diet.

Same answer as the Polish one. They say the water you drink there (at both spots) aren't that healthy and its just their way of life. Nothing more, nothing less.
