Can I use a standard marine battery with a Basement Watchdog battery back up sump pump?

Depends on the type of marine battery.
A deep cycle battery would be better suited than a starting battery.

Any way to keep the pump operating during a power outage would be better than having the basement flooded! Use whatever you have at hand.
