Yes, they should have thought about the consequences before committing crimes, but after a felony it is almost impossible to get a job. Does this lifetime "blackballing" just make more crime, as the former criminals can't get on with their lives and must resort to crime yet again?

ummm....okay, i didn't say rapists should be let out of prison. i mean, if someone is convicted of something should it stay with them for life, because once they are out of prison (after doing their time!!) what do they do with their lives if they can't work because no one will hire them?

I think sometimes it does. It's sometimes tough for regular people to get a job never mind if you're a felon. So, maybe they go back to the behavior that got them in trouble. Maybe if we still made things in this country, there would be more opportunities for them.

Liberal coddling of evil (murderers/rapists/terrorists) simply enables more crime/terrorism.

He really didnt mean to rape and kill that girl, his good liberal parents never hugged him enough! he is a victim of society, a society that didnt care about him, he cant take responsibility for his actions! look at him, he is poor! we must let him out of prison so he can begin the process of healing!
_and he goes on to abuse more victims...

he isnt a terrorist he is a freedom fighter! we should contribute funds to this islamic charity so we can help those poor people! Its about education and poverty, not an ideology of killing infidels!
_and more rockets and bomb vests get purchased

The idea that needs to be put out, is that turning to a life of crime, will end your life in one way or another. You may loose your life, or you may never live as a productive member of society, and people know this going into it. it is a choice they make, to do evil, and ruin their lives.the government didnt ruin their lives, they did, by their actions. there are programs where felons can regain much of their previous lives, but simply doing time doesnt cut it, they must truly be reformed and make amends. if that doesnt happen, they will be back in the cell in a matter of months. It is a matter of personal responsibility.

It's called "reap what you sow" Criminals break the law with full knowledge of the consequences. To them it's just a game of keeping ahead of the law....

There are felons that find ways to rehabilitate themselves and lead normal productive lives. There are state programs that put felons in good jobs and pay employers to hire these people.

There is never any excuse to break the law. WE have options, they just make bad choices.
