1. Yes. I was 15. It was behind a friend's house, with a friend that was teaching me the fine art of killing myself ever so slowly.
2. Not more than an hour apart - except when I am sleeping or in a no-smoking environment.
3. It is nothing short of an addiction. I can break the hand to mouth habit with tootsie pops or celery sticks, but I can't shake the urge for life-stealing smoke in my lungs.
4. Many times. I curse the day I started when I thought my friend was "cool" because she smoked.
5. I have had some successes. The longest I've been able to stay "clean" was 6 months. That means the physical addiction was severed - but the emotional need was still there.
6. My father smoked. He had no influence on my starting and was not at all happy when I joined him.
7. No family member worth his salt would ever encourage another family member or loved one to continue smoking. But I am a family of one.
8. As previously mentioned, I am a family of one.
9. I am not in control. I am obsessed with the need to smoke. I think the only way I could quit is if cigarettes were banned, pulled from the shelves and forced the nation to go cold turkey or be jailed!
10. Smoking is about the least attractive thing humans do. Smokers have to find each other to date. Who else but another smoker would want to experience a kiss that is equal to licking an ashtray?

Yes, I do remember my 1st. I was 13. Jr. High school. Out by a big tree. It made me very dizzy.
I am 53. So I've been a smoker for 40 years. ( That's sad) I smoke about 1 1/2 pks. a day.
Habit and addiction.
Yes, have tried quitting many times.
My longest success was about 5 weeks.
No. My parents never smoked. And out of a family of 2 sisters and 1 brother I am the only smoker.
Don't know what my family thinks about my smoking. Never asked.
No. It's not easy to stop. Went on the patch once and it really worked. But stress over ruled it.
No. Do not think smoking is attractive. I would have beat the crap out of my kid had he ever started.
Would I date a smoker? Been married to one for 14 years. So guess that would mean yes.

1. Yes, I was 13, and it was a Marlboro red, my sister's cigarette.
2. about 1/2 pack a day
3. both. I have quit, to the point where the nicotine is out of my system, but still had a craving for one.
4. yes, several times
5. 4 months
6. my parents quit smoking when I was younger. They didn't like it that I smoked. My grandparents smoked, and of course my sister.
7. My mom occasionally says something about my smoking, but I'm an adult. My husband also smokes, so he doesn't say anything.
8. Probably by refusing me cigarettes.
9. I don't think it would be impossible, but it would take a lot of will power and self control.
10. I married a smoker.

First cigarette when I was 10. Picked up a smoking butt from off the ground.
I no longer smoke. Used to smoke 1 pack a day.
I really believe tobacco companies are "lacing" the cigarettes. The last time I quit smoking, I went through the night "cold sweats" for 2 weeks. Addiction is my belief.
Quit smoking many times and started again.
I have now gone 3 years without even a drag on a cigarette.
Father smoked and it was an influence on me. Movies too. Looked cool.
I am in control to a limit. If I smoked 1 cigarette it would be over.
Smoking is not attractive and I would not date a smoker.

G: Do you remember your first cigarette? How old were you? When/where was it?
S: I WAS 15 - IN THOSE DAYS, YOU USED TO GET FREE CIGS ON FLIGHTS. I STOLE A PACK OF THESE FROM MY PARENTS AND SNUCK OFF WITH A FRIEND TO THE TOP HOCKEY PITCH. IT WAS CURIOSITY, MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, AND I DIDN'T INHALE FOR THE FIRST 2-3 YEARS.
G: How often do you smoke?
S: I SMOKE 20 A DAY
G: Would you consider it more of a habit, an addiction, or a combination of both? Explain.
S: I CONSIDER IT BOTH. FOR ME, THE HABIT IS GOING TO BE HARDER TO BREAK THAN THE ADDICTION. I AM SO USED TO HAVING A CIGARETTE IN MY HAND IN SOCIAL SITUATIONS, THAT I'M NOT SURE WHAT I'LL DO WITHOUT IT. I HAVE NEVER BEEN OUT FOR A DRINK OR A NIGHT OUT WITHOUT SMOKING.
G: Have you ever tried to stop smoking?
S: ONCE, YEARS AGO. IT WASN'T MY CHOICE - MY VERY ANTI-SMOKING PARENTS CAUGHT MY BROTHER, MY SISTER AND MYSELF SNEAKING A CIG OUTSIDE ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT. MY MOTHER BOUGHT US ALL NICORETTE PATCHES AND GUM THE NEXT DAY.
G: How successful was your attempt? What’s the longest you’ve ever went without smoking?
S: I LASTED FIVE DAYS. AS I DIDN'T ACTUALLY WANT TO GIVE UP, I WASN'T EVER GOING TO SUCCEED. AND THAT WAS THE LONGEST TIME I'VE BEEN WITHOUT SMOKING.
G: Was there anyone in your immediate family (mother, father, brothers, sisters) who was also a smoker when you first started? Do you think they had any influence on your decisions?
S: ABSOLUTELY NOT. MY PARENTS HAVE NEVER SMOKED, NOR HAVE ANY OF THE OLDER MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY. MY BROTHER, MY SISTER AND MYSELF WERE ALL AWAY AT SCHOOL AND STARTED SMOKING INDEPENDENTLY OF EACH OTHER.
G: Does your family support your cigarette addiction or are they trying to help you stop?
S: MY PARENTS HATE IT AND WISH I COULD GIVE UP. MY BROTHER QUIT, AND IS CONCERNED THAT I SMOKE TOO MUCH. MY SISTER KEEPS GIVING UP AND STARTING AGAIN, BUT DOESN'T PROFFER AN OPINION.
G: Do you think that your family could do more to help you stop? What would that be?
S: NOPE - I DON'T WANT TO STOP. THE GUILT TRIP HAS BEEN THERE FROM THE BEGINNING BUT HAS MADE NO DIFFERENCE.
G: Do you feel like you’re in control? Would you be able to stop at any given time or do you think it’s just impossible to stop now?
S: I DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP. I AM IN CONTROL TO THE EXTENT THAT I HAVE NEVER MADE A CONSCIOUS, PERSONAL DECISION TO STOP SMOKING, ALTHOUGH I KNOW THAT I SHOULD FOR HEALTH REASONS. THE ONLY THING THAT MAY MAKE ME STOP IS THE FACT THAT SMOKING AGES YOU, AND I DON'T WANT TO APPEAR OLDER THAN I AM.
G: Do you think smoking is attractive? Would you date another smoker?
S: I DON'T CONSIDER IT ATTRACTIVE OR UNATTRACTIVE. WHETHER A PERSON SMOKES OR NOT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO ME.

8, one of my dad's cigs from ashtray that not fully put out when out room.
Smoke daily, first ciggy as soon wake up
Habit and addiction, feels better as more addicted
Never tried to quit and never will. Longest time between cigs is when on flights as go on holiday
All family smoke, as kid ask dad why he smoked as at school been told that very bad for you. Said because so enjoyable and will understand when start smoking, few years after started he said glad that me and brother smoke so be OK about smell in home etc and like image of all smoking.
Started with brother nicked off parents and later started giving us cigs.
Would get teased if tried to quit, all family smoke.
Only dated smokers. Been with bf 7 years and both love being heavy smokers and will never quit

It's too much like work to answer this question. You should try asking them one at a time but probably not all at the same time. Try one a day.
This sounds like some sort of school assignment. Good Luck.
