When Dumbledore and Snape argued in the trees, I thought that it was Dumbledore making Snape promise to kill him. Dumbledore knows something that we don't know, and that something requires Dumbledore to be dead, or at least in spirit form, but it definitely involves Harry.

Near the end of the book, when Dumbledore said, "Severus, please," when Snape had his wand aimed at him, he was saying, "Severus, please kill me. You know it has to be done." When Harry tried to stop Snape as Snape was running for the gate, Snape basically told Harry that he hated him because Snape killing Dumbledore was all because of Harry. And, I think that Snape hates himself a little more too.

I tell you, I had a hard time reading the last third of that book because I was in tears the whole time. Man, I bawled when Harry had to make Dumbledore drink the poisoned water. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. When Snape killed Dumbledore, oh, I sobbed my heart out. Dumbledore wasn't just a character in a book, he was my friend. Anyone who knows a book so intimately that a character is a friend knows exactly what I mean.

I think he's bad. If he didn't help Draco out by killing Dumbledore, Snape would have died himself because he took the unbreakable oath. If he was truly good, he would know that the good side would have a greater chance of succeeding with Dumbledore alive instead of himself. If he was good, he would have sacrificed himself to save Dumbledore. I don't think it was planned with Dumbledore, but perhaps Dumbledore knew something we all don't (which is a likely scenario) and he thinks that maybe he should die...for the good of everyone? I don't know about that last part, I don't take him to be suicidal, he's freaking old, he's a survivor. I don't think he would just throw it all away unless he thought that he could be more help dead than alive. (Perhaps he thinks he can help more as a portrait in his office than anywhere else) But who knows. To have the final answer, we must all impatiently wait for J.K. to finish the book and publish it already!

Tough question. Guess it dependson what we think JKR is capable of doing to the characters. Was Dubmldores death nessesary? Is he really dead? Is he coming back?

Why is Snape stillhelping Harry even after the Draco incident? I think Snape still has a possitive role ot play. No idea what it is though. Can't wait to find out next year.

I am not sure about him. He is definitely a mixture of both. He killed Dumbledore but saved Draco's soul at the same time. He treats Harry like dirt but saved him during the first Quidditch match. I think he is more on the dark side with a touch of fair play. I just think he is an a**hole.

Snape is bad... Unless Dumbledore is suicidal, they could of never planned this together.

i agree that dumbledore knows something that we know but he may not know something that we know that is the scene in spinners end
what i think is that they had some sort of agreement on it
but in the scene where dumbledore died there was something he misjudged
the arguement in the forest was due to that because dumbledore had ordered severus to do something that was against the vow

but anyway spape seems to be evil

he's good. this is one of jk rowling's um...twists. it's going to make you think he's bad. but what if dumbledore knew about his fate, and he asks snape to make it happen (trying not to give away spoilers)? that's my view. good luck in your analysis!!
