And get a virus detection program.

Make sure you know where the file resides on your drive (the full path). Either use the command prompt option from under All Programs Accessories. Or, restart your computer and hit the key designated for start up options. Select start up in DOS.
This will give you a blinking cursor that allows you to use DOS to find and delete the file.
In other words, once at the blinking cursor, type dir C:\(path to the file) \(file name) and enter.
This will tell you if you have the right path and filename.
If the file is listed hit F3, this will type the prevvous command and you can modify it by using the arrow key to go over to the "Dir" and replace it with del and enter. This will delete that file. You may be asked are you sure - are you?
Good luck - I have also had luck just using search to find the file and deleting it there. But I don't suppose you would be asking if it were that easy.

Many versions of Limewire (and other P2P software) include adware and spyware that does not uninstall when you remove the program. So does the junk that you download, as you have learned.
If you've uninstalled the program from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel you'll probably need to run a spyware scan of your system to get rid of any parasitic programs.
Another quick way to resolve it is to look through the registry for any references to the program and delete them. That's only recommended if you know what you're doing, however.
Better yet, snag a copy of Process Explorer from SysInternals. Here's a link: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html
Use it to identify any process running on your machine as well as locate information about it. This will show everything running on your machine including things that are hidden from Task Manager. You'll be stunned at how much stuff is running on your machine even when no programs are open.

I've had this problem in the past. I was able to move this file to a different folder then delete from there.
My file was a movie downloaded using azureus and even though I'd removed it from my upload list I think azureus still thought it was using it hence the message I was getting stating the file was in use.
I've never used limewire but I assume its a similar type of setup so that could be your problem.

Sounds like it could be one of limewiere's famous viruses. However, if you go into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs can remove it that way. Or you can go into Windows Explorer (Under Start, All Programs) and do searches and find all these files and remove them. I would definitely do a Restore Time to your computer before deleting these files as they may be shared with other programs that wouldn't run if you deleted them. You need to get CyberDefender (pay for it), anti-spy and download AVG from grisoft.com. anti virus for free.

Hi,
There are alot of hidden tasks running in the Windows background. If you have 2000 or XP Check out "Processes" (Alt + Ctrl + Del). The bottom line is something is using that file. Try uninstalling whatever you installed in the control panel under "Add/Remove Programs".
Good Luck!

First thing I would is download the freeware from the first two sites. Second if you must have a P2P program use e-mule and if you are still having problems after this. Get rid of Windows and download Linux, it comes with a load of P2P software and anything else you may need.

Your first possible solution is to start the computer in safe mode. This will probably keep the file from being loaded at startup allowing you to delete it.
