The legit reason is that demand is increasing world wide.
China is taking in alot of oil now because of it's industry demands.
The way to drop America's gas prices is to become less dependent on foreign oil and use our own. Remember more than gas uses oil. Plastics and lubrication are also major uses.
Another plus to using our own oil is that we will stop funding terrorist nations.
There is no conspiracy between the American government and OPEC. OPEC member nations are not always our friends. They just decreased production by 1 million barrels a day because the supply in America was building and the prices were falling. They love the high price of a barrel of oil because in most cases that's the only source of income for OPEC member nations.

1.The price goes up in the summer because that is time everyone travels most and OPEC makes it's larger profits. Same as department stores raise their prices during Christmas and other holidays.
2.Conspiracy: It was used as a diversion to take our thoughts away from Iraq so mr bush's ratings don't drop any lower?
3. The world is full of GREED!

Everything goes up,just the way it is.A gallon of milk cost more than a gallon of gas.We as Americans are a huge part of the problem.Instead of buying a 4 cyl car,we buy a big gas guzzling 8 cyl SUV..instead of turning the thermostat down and wear a sweater,we jack it up.We need to conserve, but most don't care.

Hi,,,, I happen to work in the oil industry,,,, if people knew how much money was spent on drilling wells they might would know why oil costs so much....
It costs Millions and millions of dollars to drill and produce 1 oil well... meanwhile the American consumers are driving around in their Humm-Vees,, and larger SUVs,, and pay 3 dollars for a gallon of milk,, and 3 dollars for a loaf of bread... and mild and wheat are easily made and grown....
So, if you can afford milk and bread, then you can afford the gasoline also......
I pay the same as you do.... and i dont gripe........
good luck

We have the cheapest energy in the world, and, through tax credits, our government actually subsidizes our gas prices. We created the problem ourselves by buying SUVs, building oversized McMansions, having an incredible dependence on convenience and living in suburbs with long commutes.
