i just got a betta and i was thinking if they're the "fighting" fish then how do they kill eachother if they have no teeth? do they or do they not have teeth? thanks

Very few betta "battles" end in death. Most of the fighting is posturing. They flare their gill covers, extend their fins to the fullest, and make false charges at their opponent.
If this does not work, they will "bite" and tear fins. Occaisionally they will do body damage.
Most of the deaths come from infections at the site of fin tears.

They ram each other with their heads and prevent each other from eating and sleeping, they do not have teeth that can be exposed for biting another fish.

Mine acts like he does. We dropped a live fly in his water, he acted like a shark. It was hilarious. Put your finger about an inch above the surface of his water. See if he will bite it. It don't hurt. It's funny.
I've had mine 1-1/2 yrs. Always use your beta drops in his clean water.
