There are a lot of squirrels around my area and I have heard about things happening in vent pipes.

they sale vent covers..go to home depot or lowes and buy you a couple of them..
this made me think of a story i heard over the weekend. a neighbor lady was told that she had raccons coming in your roof vents and she didnt believe her so one day she came home to a family of raccoons in her living room..the money spent on the covers are well worth it in the long run...

Go to the hardware store and get some downspout strainers and some pipe clamps that will fit the PVC pipe you have. Here is a website with pics and literature of the strainers. http://www.gutterguards.com/. Put these over the pipe and secure with the clamps.

at most home stores you can find a product called "hardware cloth". It is a steel mesh that has various sizes of squares from 1/4" to 1" and larger (I think). It's amazing stuff, NO animal can chew through it.
use tin snips to trim it to the correct diameter then staple it onto your vents. Or try sheet aluminum (available in rolls 1 foot wide at some home stores), easily cut with scissors.

Buy some light mesh wire screen door material and wire and go up and cut enough mesh to make a cap over the vent and wire it on.

Replace the caps with ones which have mesh or hardward cloth over the openings.

Place a strong mesh screen at the opening and secure it strongly.

barbed wire, nails, broken glass, baby oil ,sit outside with a 9mm pistol........ect ect..
