There is still something to be said about writing a letter by hand and posting it. You get a sense of achievement when you take the time to physically write a letter yourself. It is also more personal, and it is a joy for the receiver. I still pay my bills with real money at the post office. It seems to be the easier option for me, I know where my money is going. And its nice to get out, at least for a walk. The staff at our local post office are very friendly and I have come to know them well. Its nice to indulge in a little small talk and to share a joke.

Not at all! I haven't paid for a bill using snail mail in over 2 years. Though technology is far from foolproof, I still feel more comfortable submitting an online payment than sending a check/MO through the mail, where it can be lost, misplaced, or delayed.
Though email is snazzy & ubiquitous nowadays, I do enjoy the personal touch of a handwritten letter. Haven't done one of those in a while...thanks for the nostalgia :)

I would think the USPS would be out of service....can a federal trade claim bankruptcy?
Why are mail carriers paid so much, when pizza delivery drivers
have hope they get a tip to pay their gas? My mail lady is the devil...she drives at probably 60 mph smoking a cigarette and told us if we didn't move the mailbox to the other side of the street, she wasn't delivering the mail. (we complied, because we were scared of her)
Anyway, I sent my first check in probably 3 years the other day because I located my checks and was excited to see them as I bank online now.
I would rather receive a written letter, but I would respond by email. And by the time my damn mail lady would get it here, I would already know all the news the letter was supposed to bring.

Can't say that I pay bills with cash, but I have twenty-three penpals so spend a lot of time writing letters and posting them. There is something very personal about receiving a letter that is lost in emails

Yes because I still write the occasional letter. Theres something nice about waiting longer for one and it dropping through the letterbox. Its more personal than emails and thankfully people tend to write using proper English in letters, rather than the damn text language thats taking over the world!
I prefer paying bills online though, anything that makes boring life processes such as this quicker is good news for me, and lets me get on with trying to enjoy life instead!

I write letters all the time to members of the military. And I still pay some bills with cash. It's just NOT that big of a deal, to me, to drive 2 miles across town.

Yes. It would get lost.
Or you would worry that your parents might open it.
And the more you wrote the more you had to pay
and you never had time to go to the post, and when you did you had to queue forever.
And then it got wet and the ink would wash off.
And then you couldn't remember where you placed it and lost the only thing you had left from a broken relationship.
I think I'll stop now

Yup, quiet clearly too.
I once paid my Electricity Bill & Gas Bill on the same day in the Brixton showrooms (sth London). But I droped the Electricity cheque in the Gas 'quick payment' box, and the same with the Gas, by mistake.
Silly Sash.
