If you hit the 'X' in the upper right corner of the window you are closing the window. If that is the only browser window you have open then you are closing your browser so there is nothing to show you except your desktop.

If you have other browser windows open you can see them at the bottom of your screen on your taskbar. Just click the one you want to see and it will open back up on your screen.

When you close a window you see what is 'below' it. Like a stack of paper, if you remove the top paper (top window) you see the next paper (window). But if all of your windows have been minimized (moved out of the way) then when you close your top window you may only be left with the desktop 'underneath'. Look at the taskbar to see what other windows have been moved out of the way (minimized).

Good Luck!

You should not x-out, you should hit the "Home" key on your browser, up top in the menu icons bar.
