I have no personal experience on this particular question but I can share some stories about my mother and a real close friend of mine.Who have had their tubes tied.
After my mother had my brother. This was in 1974.She had her tubes cut, tied and carterized shut. 5 years later my mother became pregnat with me and my 2 sisters.

A close friend of mine had her tubes tied after she had her second baby.3 years later she had a little girl and had to have the operation again to be certain that there will be no more lol.

On the other hand.My sister in law had her tubes tide after her second one.And has not became pregnat since.

The point is ... The docs say that there is a very small if not nill chance you will be preganat again. But, the people in my life beg to differ lol.Maybe it was just a fluke this happened to them. But they are all very happy with the children that came after their operations to have their tubes tied and wouldnt change a thing.

Almost nil, but I did have a friend who had diabetes which caused the burning of the tubes to grow back and not heal correctly. She thought she was pregnant, but her doctor didn't believe her. He said it couldn't happen that he was always successful with sterilizations. Her doctor told her that she had not accepted the fact that she could not have another child. He suggested she see a psychiatrists which she did even though she felt pregnant. Her pregnancy symptoms continued. She even got milk in her breast. She finally went to a different doctor who examined her and told she was pregnant and told she had to go to the hospital immediately. She had actually been pregnant for 13 months, but the baby had died at 5 months development. After the baby died a shell, hard calcium, grew around the baby which the doctor said saved her life. Otherwise, gangrene would have set in, he said. She had to be in surgery for 6 hours to reconstruct and remove part her bowel, liver, kidney, remove her uterus and tubes. My friend almost died. So I doubt you'd want that to happen, A woman should take very seriously the fact she will probably never have a child, at least not a living one, if she has a sterilization performed on her body. Never is a long time.

Check with you're doctor, no type of birth control is 100% perfect, except abstinence (obviously). Tubal ligation is actually not 'tying' the tubes it's cauterizing the tubes. It seldom allows pregnancy but very occasionally it does. A tubal ligation can be reversed but it is a difficult surgery and not always successful.

I've not hear or seen anything about getting pg after having tubes tied for years. I have seen local interest proclaiming to get pregant months after being recently tied, which you can expect. The probability is slim to no chance.

If you want to get pg, have them untied. =o) Good luck.

Have you had the surgery reversed? Even after the reversal surgery, the chances are pretty slim, but without the reversal surgery, the chances are practically 0. I know people that reversed the surgery, and they tried to conceive for 10 years, and eventually had to adopt. Save yourself the time and adopt.

My son will be 18 in May, i got my tubes tied the day after he was born......so it's pretty highy unlikely.. you can have the procedure reversed, but it is very expensive

depends on the procedure.. if they were cut and tied then it is 100 % no pregnancy, if they were just clipped you have 1 in 250 chance in the first 5 yrs and if they were cauterized then there is a 98% no pregnancy rate

Highly unlikely but not impossible.
From reasearch it seems to be a 5 to 10 % chance.
