Of course you could say "Cain and Abel" but that was not a mating situation. They were brothers.
"Adam and Steve" refers to the idea that marriage was meant to bring a couple together for a life time to reproduce and raise the children in the religious way.

It all depends on if you have Biblical morals or not. I do have biblical morals and I am a christian. When God originally created mankind he created Adam and Eve. Male and Female. That was the way things were meant to be. If it were otherwise then two males or two females would be able to reproduce. As everyone can plainly see, that isn't happening. Ever. Its not how we were designed. God never intended to make an "Adam and Steve" It has always been a male "Adam" and a female "Eve." The "Adam and Steve" argument, as you call it, does have a very large basis, but unless you believe what the Bible says, then it won't make sense. Read Romans 1 (it is in the new testament, you can use the concordance at the front of the Bible to find it). It has some very interesting things to say about homosexuals. I hope this helped you understand the "Adam and Steve" argument a little better, even though I can't explain it all.

Its a smart-assed wink wink at the Bible lovers love of hating homosexuals. When you need a reason to say God hates someone, without sounding unchristian about it, then you can say the not Adam and Steve rubric without sounding too judgmental. At least that's what they think.

I truly believe in what The Holy Bible says about how God created the world and every thing in it . He did create Adam and Eve so I think it was His intention that sex and relationship should be between man and woman and not between people of the same sex

I believe they are crudely refering to the Adam and eve vrs the Adam and steve as this is what god intended for us to be man and woman and go forth and populate the earth, however they neglect to think of the factor that we are all created in his image and that god loves all so god loves man as well as woman why should man not love man
thats just the viewpoint of one heterosexual pagan though
