If you were sick you could say 'I feel bad.' since the word 'bad' in this context is an adjective to describe the 'feeling'. If you said 'I feel badly.' then you are describing the way you feel things not how you feel. For example if you were judging the ripeness of fruit by feeling it and your choice proves to be poor you could say 'I will not choose the fruit this way because I feel (it) badly.'

I am experiencing a bad feeling.
Because I feel bad could mean your kinesthetic tactile sensory perception is noticing an abnormally adverse affect when it is perceptionally receiving representational input in other words when I touch something it feels bad.
And I feel badly could mean that I am not able to satisfactorily kinesthetically perceive accurate sensory representational data meaning I am no good at touching things.

For clarity, I'd recommend saying "I feel ill." 'Bad' can also be taken as moral judgement, and as previsouly noted, 'Badly' can be construed as commenting on your ability to feel. Although 'ill' has certain slang connotations, so does 'bad'.
