I've put my clothes to dry on a vinyl coated airer and placed under a portable electric heater. To cut story short, the plastic melted, got stuck to my clothes, and is now rock solid. How can i get rid of it? thanks!

Try warming up the bit of cloth with vinyl stuck to it. The vinyl should also warm up and become a bit more flexible. You should then be able to pick it off or scrape it off with a flat bladed knife. Good luck.
