There are some "new" bands with that flavor:
Blackheart Procession has the song Tropics of Love and along with Devics, Five Hours, Streetlight Manifesto all have an earlier time vibe.

I think going back is better than how music is going forward (just go to epitonic.com and listen to "math rock"). A swing band actually requires talent that many pop bands lack.
