I know that a blood test/urine test can detect it early but I was wondering because I am at risk for ectopic pregnancy....

I heard they can find out at 4 wks with a vaginal ultrasound. I had a vaginal ultrasound done at 6 wks and saw the embryo sac.

Much later than a blood or urine test can. Either can detect a pregnancy as soon as the zygote implants on the uterine wall, which occurs 6-12 days after fertilization and some tests claim to be able to detect a pregnancy 4 days before the first missed period. Ultrasound is typically able to detect the fetus at 6-8 weeks.

You don't need an ultrasound to detect pregnancy all you need is a blood test. If you really want one though I would say 5-7 weeks.

Well I had my first vaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks and you could see a little fluttering circle. You could not hear the heartbeat but you could see it. It was awesome. I am not sure if you can see it sooner than that, but it seems possible that you could maybe see it as early as 3 or 4 weeks. Most doctors wont do one until at least 6 weeks if not 9 weeks.

According to my doctor's office, they can detect a heartbeat starting around 9 weeks. Most doctors will not even see you for your first appointment until you are at least 9 weeks along.

Most doctors dont want to see you till you are nine weeks pregnant they can determine if you are pregnant by ultrasound at four weeks. They determined I was pregnant at four weeks. Becuase I had to go to the emergency room and I told them I might be pregnant and they checked to see before they done ultra sounds
