Elastic Band - Very useful for tying back my hair. Also very good for keeping wads of envelopes together.

Band Aid - A very handy sticking plaster for when I graze my knee. Also, a great charity fundraiser.

Contra-band - Good for making you feel just a bit naughty!

Iggy Pop and the Stooges-
They were the very First Ever punk rock band and along with the MC5 pioneered a new style of music.
The Velvet Underground
combining art and rock in a way that changed the NY scene forever, everyone that listened to them started a band.
The Beatles
For evolving pop music beyond it's typical three chord trappings and ushering in the era of bands that wrote their own material.

Bright Eyes.
Death Cab For Cutie.
Cursive.

1. Bright Eyes is probably my favorite band of all time, because Conor Oberst is just..amazing. His voice. His lyrics. The metaphores in his music are just absolutely astounding.

2. Death Cab For Cutie, is my second, because again, the lyrics..and the way they get loud, and then soft. The rhythms to the songs will make you remember them, and overall, they're just gorgeous pieces.

3. Finally, Cursive. Cursive makes such ugly things turn beautiful. Their lyrics and their voices are amazing. It's so unbelievable how he can sing a certain way, and it actually makes you feel how he feels.

All three are amazing artists!

Nickelback. The songs, let's face it, rock out loud. The main singer has a really good powerful voice as well.
Josh Groban. His songs don't necessarily rock, but they are quite pretty. Josh has an incredibly powerful voice.
Green Day. Their tunes are great, fast, fun, just get the blood pumping. If I could get a CD on which just the music was played, and not the words too, I'd listen to that all the time.

Bon Jovi. Good rock songs and able to keep doing it after 20 years.Jon is also gorgeous
Cream. Ground breaking group of old and best guitarist Eric Clapton, Brilliant drummer too in Ginger Baker.
Scissor sisters. I just can't help but like every song they do. I find them comical.....

Jethro Tull. With over 30 fantastic albums and a career spanning almost four decades this band has never lost its edge. Witty, insightful, melodic, diverse and unpredictable - I just can't get enough of them!

Aqua. Euro-pop masters of the 1990s who have been all but forgotten. Under-rated in the extreme but I still love them.

Gogol Bordello. A new band but destined for great things. Eastern European folk mixed with punk and techno in a masterpiece of joy, rage and lust for life.

There are my unusual choices. I hope I have sold them to you!

Queen - They are legendary and Freddie Mercury's singing is unbelievable!

AC/DC - The power chords that Angus Young does on his Gibson SG are simple yet they really work, plus good vocals.

Green Day - Billie Joe's vocals and guitar playing is very good, plus they have been around for 17 years now so go Green Day.
