Can I suggest Thomas Nast?
Thomas Nast has been called the Father of American Political Cartooning. He's generally regarded as having invented both the Democrat Donkey (in 1868) and the Republican Elephant (in 1874).
He is also credited with illustrating the first Santa Claus.
Ever wonder where the word "Nasty" comes from?
Well, during Victorian times, his political cartoons were so biting and so satirical, they called the drawings "Nasty".
There's a lot of fun trivia surrounding this fellow. You can also use a few of his cartoons in your presentation.

All people that are worth doing a report on will make you look nerdy. Besides, being nerdy is cool.
I would suggest Wolfgang von Goethe. The guy did so many things in his life that it can interest anyone. He was a poet, philosopher, biologist, soldier, lawyer, and many people consider him to have had the highest IQ in history.
