It's not testosterone per se, bur rather high levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which will do this. However, DHT is vital in a man's body - you must have it - DHT is THE ACTIVE FORM of the male hormone which works on target organs & glands. Without it there would be no virility.
But male baldness only happens is those who carry a horrible gene from their forbears - those who have this gene (even women) get affected by this hormone which kills scalp hair cells. But men who lack this gene don't go bald . It's a yes/no matter.

Although it is true that some types of steroids enhance hair groth in the pubic regions, adversly they may cause loss of hair on the head as well as atrophying of the testes(since they no longer act in the production & secretion) There are some very well documented cases of testosterone side effects on the web but remember we are each unique and chemical and hormonal compounds may affect us all indiscriminately and with out warning.

Well it could, I guess. My brother has this problem, but his comes from wearing wool baseball caps while playing baseball in the hot California sun. Most men born in the 60's who played a sport with a cap are facing this issue. Check here www.webmd.com for more.
