First of all, it takes much less time to clean if you try to organize yourself and be disciplined enough to put things away as you go on a daily basis.

When my room gets trashed, I start with clothes. Clean ones folded & hung and dirty ones in the wash. That is probably 3/4 of your mess. Have a garbage bag ready and throw anything that you don't need or use. Don't procrastinate. Just dig in and do it. Have fun.

First pick up all your clothes off the floor. Sort them out, dirty ones go in hamper, which is now outside your bedroom door,so they can go to laundry room. Fold all the ones that are clean and put away. Now get your garbage can and put all the food and candy wrappers, the ones under your bed, in the garbage. While you have the can in hand ( no pun intened) look around and see what you do not need or use any more, chuck it. Next pick up and sort all Cd's,DVDs etc's. There now all you have to do is make the bed...take bed cover and shake out and flip it on bed. Done !

This time, do whatever it takes to to get it clean. THROW AWAY WHAT YOU DON'T NEED! After you finish, if you spend only 5-10 minutes a day keeping it clean, you will never have to face the mess again for the rest of your life.

Get a real powerful air hose!!
No, seriously - the quickest, easiest way is by putting things in containers.Clean clothes in closet or drawers, dirty clothes in a hamper or utility room, shoes in closet, toys - etc in buckets or boxes. Do this continuously and it will stay clean!! But I imagine you have heard that before!!!

take everything off surfaces and set on your bed(that has already been stripped bare)throw out all garbage and things you do not want any longer.gather up all dirty clothing and bring to laundry room(no laundry room?bag up for laundry-mat)pull out furniture from walls a little and clean.push back furniture and vacuum(or sweep)re-wipe surfaces with a dry rag to remove raised dust from vacuuming/sweeping,put everything on the bed away and remake your bed.good luck!

Throw away the broken stuff, get rid of the stuff you don't use, and start from where you're standing.

And it helps to not be doing or thinking of other stuff while at it: You won't be so easily distracted.

Good luck!

Get three boxes and a large garbage can. One box goes the things you want to keep, but don't need now. In the other box goes things you want to keep and need now, but don't have a place for. In the third box goes everything you don't need or want, but is to good to throw away (give it to goodwill). In the garbage can goes everything else.
