Most meds treat the symptoms, not the problem. Your best bet will be to load up on cough drops and vit C. Drink a few glasses of orange juice throughout the day, lots of water to keep your system flushed clean and to keep hydrated. Eat well, even if you don't feel like eating. Being sick drains your body and you want to make sure that you have the energy and resources for your body to fight off the sickness. Get as much sleep as you can, your body heals best when resting. Good luck!

As soon you get sore throat gargle with hot salt water atleast three times day.ie. morning when you get up, noon time and before you go to bed. at night Drink only warm water. food also should be warm. L ight food is better.Take bath only in warm water, head bath to be avoided. Don't expose your body to cold and keep the body warm.Take rest as much as possible and do not undertake too much physical work. You should sneeze/spit out the phlegm as much as possible to avoid post cold cough..This regimen, if continued for 4-5 days will completely cure your cold by your body itself and you will be immune to cold for next six monthsFor quick cure you should consult a G.P..

Zicam! Found at your local drug store in the Cold Remedies section. Follow the directions. It will cut the symptoms and duration of a cold in half.

Nothing will cure a cold, but many things will make you feel better.
Something that works quite nicely is a warm cup of milk with a shot of rhum or brandy in it.
