I'm an honest ethical, mortgage broker. Most of the clients I have would still be renting had I not show them the way, and helped them avoid the many landmines. My knowledge and expertise is something I'm compensated for , just like a doctor or atttorney, going it alone can cost you in lost opportunities, and bad choices for loans and properties, Please dont lump all Mortgage people in the same boat. I have lost many nights sleep streesing out over weather someone I'm working with will be able to get thier loan approval, and move into thier home. I become very involved in thier lives, and become a financial planner of sorts, helping them to improve thier credit score, and stratigically helping aquire more wealth

I'm a banker, and have several friends who are mortgage lenders. They are awesome, honest people, and I have a great deal of respect for them. Our bank's motto is "Build Customer Wealth," and by selling people the products and services they need, or ones that can benefit them, we really are building customer wealth. From one banker to another, I say kudos to you, and keep up the good work!

Hear is the cold hard truth since you are the first to ask, why your occupation is getting bashed a lot. First off the general public trust there restate agents and loan broker less than congress, and a used car sales man. In fact is is such a problem that your industry is now advertising ethic training that everybody must get. Hey that is a big red flag if you or some els has to tell how honest you are and it is the other guy. sort of like listening to a signal mother tell how good of a mother she is on the Jerry Springer show.

Can you say that you have an honest industry?? I say not and there are a lot of others that feel that way, yet i do admit that they do not know why, but they do know that they have been screwed over.
Hear is a web site that shows many of the dishonest way that your industry has been and how they have caused a bubble that is breaking and going to make a big mess for a long time.

What relay needs to happen is a open fare and fully disclosed MLS and loan process, ran by the county government. Many time a house is claimed to be an investment what other investment is sold with so many closed markets and with out full disclosure??

The car industry had the same problem a few years ago now due to the internet car buyers are now more informed and the car market is a open fare fully disclosed market for the most part this must be done with the housing market.

I would dare you to call all our past clients and ask them how they are doing now, once the deal is over. Are they now facing a increasing interest rate that will put them under? are they sleeping well at night? Are there any strained marriages or divorces due the money problems of a high mortgage? Was there not your best interest served?? Are they now or will they soon be upside down in there house , the list goes on may you get ten fold of every thing you and your peers have sowed let you Moral compass decide if the is a blessing or a curse.

Who has been bashing you? You sound like a decent person, so if other people have narrow-minded views about certain professions without taking the trouble to know you personally, that is their problem, and needn't affect your self-esteem.

I have to say, though, if I was going to pay someone else to sort out my mortgage and finances for me, I would hope they had a good education behind them, and were literate enough to deal with all the legal documents involved, which some of your spellings above would not indicate. I'm not feeling unkind today, so I'll put it down to stress and assume you were typing too quickly. Calm down, and be happy that you know you are a good person.

As in all professions, there are good eggs and bad eggs.

I sold cars a number of years ago. I was one of the "good guys." I always gave the customer a fair shake and was completely honest with them. The gross profit on the deals I wrote was razor-thin, but I made more money for the house and myself than the next three salesmen combined -- and they had all been doing it for decades. I finally quit when I got tired of being beat up by management for my low-gross deals and the general public's view of car salesmen. Huge forest, no trees in view...

Unfortunately, the rotten eggs tend to make us all stink a bit.

This isn't a question, other than rhetorical. You are preaching or have a thin hide. I have closed loans for good officers/lenders, to those who recently charged 2 full points origination and discount, for 4 points on a loan.....thought it was outrageous. Don't take life so personally. Only you can judge yourself.

If it's any consolation, there are many people, including myself that don't have a negative attitude about mortgage brokers at all. You know you're doing good things for people, that's all that matters.

Why are you taking this personally??

People are entitled to opinions. Maybe you think they are incorrect or uninformed, and you should state that, not ask a purile-like question and get defensive.

Good luck in your field--I would also recommend a business writing class.

Who is bashing you? I think its great you take a personal interest and want to help your customers.....However, there are predatory lenders out there, just in it for a fast buck, who take advantage of unsuspecting people....Its good to know, you are not one of them....Kudos!
