Punk was born in the late sixties, got big during the seventies, supposedly died in 77/78 (depending who you talk to), resurged in the 80s as 80s hardcore- changed but still alive, faded during the 90s, was regurgitated as crappy pop-punk in the early 2000s (we're on the end of that wave now). So as far as punk goes, it depends what you mean. The 70s and 80s movements both had spirit, the 2000s bullshit didn't... likely punk will jump back in some form, but unless the attitude is reborn with it, there's no hope.
Dunno about grunge. It'd be nice. Much better than the crap we've got going on now (that's not an all encompassing statement, but it is an accurate summation, in my eyes).
