Because they know the media will normally cover up for them and allow them to get away with it.
If we had independent media, the WMD lies would have been exposed before the entire world and the lying politicians been held to account. BEFORE THE INVASION.
It was very clear that Bush and Blair where lying their asses off before the Iraq invasion, I was exposing their lies to the 5 or 6 people that read my blog at the time. The mainstream media should have been telling the other millions of people I could not reach.
The media covered up the truth to allow the invasion to take place. Why? I have no idea, but the media IS complicit in covering up the lies of politicians.
The media knew for years about the antics of Republican congressman Foley and didn't report it until one of their number blew the whistle. WHY?
There are many many occasions when the media 'sit' on information that would cause a dishonest corrupt politician to resign. Why do the media keep such filthy, perverse and corrupt people in power?

Because they want to keep their jobs. Suppose Rumsfeld said: "Gee, George, we really miscalculated when we went into Iraq. You knew nor cared anything about the country's history, social order, religion, past abuses by Western countries. Maybe we should have considered, in our gluttony for oil, how we would feel if a foreign country invaded US soil, tried to set up a political system that was foreign to us, tried to confiscate and quard our oil fields, killed our people out of fear, fought a resistence movement that wanted us out, and we pretty much told the rest of the world to go to hell when they objected to the invasion, and they took sides with Cuba and Venezuela? And then they told their own nation that things were going swimmingly in the US?
I dunno, George, maybe it's easier to just lie."

situations and circumstances............... and the past & vast majority of leaders who laid their valuable principles and guidelines as a theoritical one but not getting anything done practically....... and the ones who succeeded these leaders adsorbed their principles but not understood them....they began concentrating on the fact that their speeches(lies) would not be reviewed by the majority of citizens who elected these poli(e)ticians.......unless citizens r not educated with worldly noble truths and effective scanning of genuine persons....the questions (Why most politicians are liers? ) continues......

They don't necessarily lie, they just stretch truths and manipulate words and their meanings to get their point across and/or win an election.
