I would tell you that between 1/4 to 1/3 of all boys are cut. it fluctuates from year to year. But this has been going on since the most ancient days of human history. Even the ancient Egyptians in the days of Moses were doing it. If the boy were unwilling, they did it by force. and there will always be circumcisions going on.

You have posted the same question elsewhere, so I am going to give the same answer again. However, I am astounded by people like Susan who actually believe there is soe advantage in the barbaric mutilation of circumcision. Please do you best to ignore people like that. The obvious answer is that circumcision rates drop world-wide as knowledge increases. America has been the anomoly for the past 50 years, and still remains somehow dedicated to the abolition of the foreskin. It is a stance not understood in the rest of the world. America is, in fact, among the backward countries in this regard. Even amng the Muslim community, which traditionally cut the foreskin off children like the Jews do, there is an appreciation that the foreskin is important and should be left intact. To the extent that many millions of Muslim men are now able to enjoy the benefits of their foreskin. There is a Jewish group who have also embraced this concept. In both cases the understanding is that God requires a clean heart rather than a mutilated body (somewhat like Christian teaching for the past 2,000 years - and there is no Christian grouping anywhere that would embrace the concept of circumcision). Circumcision does permanent damage to the penis, has no benefit at all, causes significant trauma and discomfort and increases the risk of infections and disease. An intact penis, on the other hand, offers a lifetime of physical protection and, with proper care, a guaranteed protection agains infections. Ridiculous notions of uncleanliness are as translucent as the arguments on which they are founded. Let me correct one point. "It's also decreasing in Canada and Australia" is actually not accurate, because it already is almost a non-existant event. There are very few doctors in these countries that will perform circumcisions except for medically essential cases. As a result, the natural male is over 95% and the circumcised male (older generations, usually) is dying out. As a final point, let me say that there is circumcision, but there is not uncircumcision. In other words, you either have a normal, intact, healthy penis, or you have a circumcised penis. In my wide experience I can say categorically that the uncircumcised penis is healthier and far preferable. Circumcision is a disfiguration of the male - as much as if would be abhorrent to cut of eyelids simply to stop grit being rubbed into eyeballs.

On the whole, only about 20-25% of the world's male population is circumcised, though that number is closer to 20%. In the US the rate has dropped from nearly 90% to between 50-60% overall. The rate is especially high in the Middle East, parts of Africa, and parts of Southwest Asia.

I cant tell you in percentage, sorry...
But i can tell you back 15 years ago, its was 'must' due to state laws. My 15 yr old was circumcised, when he was born.. due to Alabama state law. My 8 yr old son was circumcised due to the New Mexico state law. But, now.. it seems alot of states have dropped it from being state laws. Only time they didnt require it, was if it was against the parents religion..example. Jews wont at birth, they do it at a later age. OUCH....
My nephew is now 1 yr old, and wasnt circumcised when he was born here in Alabama, laws have changed. When she asked her doctors why he wasnt being circumcised, they said it was no longer required. Seems people are better keeping up their 'hygiene' then they use to be. She asked to have him circumcised anyways, as a mother she felt better about it being done.. they said the hospital would charge her $5000...YIKES!
Bottom line, since some states arent doing it anymore... parents are gonna have to 'buckle down' on their little boys, and dang sure their cleaning themselves properly. LOL... Great another chore added to us parents with boys! Boys are so hard headed..hahahaha.. Who wants to bath their 7...10..12 yr old child to make sure he's cleaning myself proper, so he doesnt get an infection down there! LOL....

To be honest i have no idea. But circumcism is barbaric. Why must people make a decision that will affect the child's lifetime. I'm not circumcised and i manage to make sure i clean my penis. Circumcism is a form of child abuse and it should be banned, unless for medical reasons - not for religious reasons. Sorry but its its for religious reasons its the most stupidest thing i've ever heard. (sorry if i offend people)
