Yeah or maybe I would stress out so bad and mess it up worse if I saw the future problems. But yeah I'd like to see in the future to see what's ahead. But then again, God won't let us see the future, that's how he controls us. Right?

I move so slowly through life (just the same as I drive my van; even the Amish give me the finger) that everyone passes me right by. But that's OK, because I avoid crashing and burning due to too much speed. And I have a big enough rear end that if anybody doesn't see me up ahead, it's their own fault...

A rear view 'life mirror' would only tell you what had already happened.... what you really need is a forward looking periscope(?) to allow you to see what is coming up on the horizon of your life before it smashed into you head on!

Not really. If we had a rear view mirror or a crystal ball, we would avoid living. The uncertainties are what life is all about. Growing, learning and maturing is the art of living. When things come are way we act or react. It is through experience of these things that teaches us about ourselves, about others, and about the world in which we live in. If we deal successfully with problems then we know how to handle other things that come to us. If we fail to do the right thing when we are faced with struggles, we learn how to do things differently. We build character by doing the right thing, when it is easier often times, to do the wrong thing. At the end of our life, what really matters is the character of who we are and what we did. If we could always keep things in perspective, we will strive to live a better life. Life is not a destiny...it is a journey. Have you ever taken a trip, a vacation etc and enjoyed getting there as much or more than the time you spent when you arrived at your destiny? If we could all slow down and enjoy the journey of life, then I believe we would all be much happier. If on our journey of life there are road detours, don't get upset, maybe...just maybe the detour will take us to new adventures and beautiful sceneries that we would have missed along the way if it were not for the detours of life. I really believe that if we are living to the best of our ability, then the things that we experience is all part of the plan. If we knew everything then we would be living and acting as robots and it would take all the meaning out of life. However, many things can be expected or seen in our "rear view mirror". For instance, if we do certain things than we can expect certain outcomes. Many times we actually make our own difficuties by the choices we make. The wise person makes choices to lead to good outcomes. If a man goes out and ties on a "good drunk" and then wakes up with a hangover...well he could have looked in the rear view mirror and predicted that it was a likely outcome that a semi was going to rear-end him with a hangover. However, on the other hand, some things are not that easy. We can not know that maybe something like, for instance if our mother dies unexpectantly, but we can always know that it is a possibility. If we love those close to us and live our life as though it may be our last day here on earth, then we live with no regrets. It is a fact that we all die and we can not predict when or how, often times. There are other things that happen that no matter what we do, we could have never predicted the occurences, of these events. This is why we need to be mature and well balanced to handle anything that comes our way. Faith in God can get us through anything. Support from family and friends is also helpful. It may be good that things come our way that causes us to need one another and lean on each other for love, help and support. What kind of world would it be if we did not need people? Did you ever hear the song...people who need people are the luckiest people? Some times even tradgeties come to large groups of people and ends up bringing the good out in people and drawing people closer together. Think of 911, how the city and the country pulled together in love and support. I believe that Satan comes to seek and steal our joy, he comes to hurt us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and he comes to kill us and destroy the world. The good news is that God comes to give us life, joy, and give us life more abundantly. He gives us pleasure in exchange for our pain. You see when we are doing well, Satan can't stand it so he attacks us in our weak and volunerable areas of our lives. If we turn to God when these things happen, he will use these terrible things to better our lives. He will give us the rainbow after the storm. He will give us pleasure after our pain. He will give us all the things we want and need, when we learn to follow him and live in his authority. Even then, he does not promise us a life without pain. We need faith to know and believe that whatever comes our way...nothing, but nothing can hurt us....because we know that God is there when trouble comes. It is important to remember that both Satan & God work through people, places and things. If we identify the source of the people, places and things in our lives then we can have a pretty good idea if things are going to work for our good or for our bad.
If we stay strong in the midst of our trouble, he will turn it out for something good and beautiful. When we can come to a place in our life that we really understand and grasp this, we have inner peace. We stop looking in our rearview mirror and look ahead with confidence. We walk by faith and not by sight.

My luck I would be looking in the rear view and crash at what was in front of me. But sure I'll take the mirror.

I think that might be helpful. But why behind you, wouldn't you want to see ahead? Plus, mirrors don't show you reality, they show you a reflection, and if it is somehow distorted, then a conceived thought of what your life will be like can be false by using it.
