Well I think prayer at any event is a good thing.
However, I don't reallly see how someone could die playing baseball or football as they could at a Nascar race. You could slam into a wall at over 150 mph so the need for prayer to keep the drivers safe is a good thing.
But like I said, I think that a prayer at any type of event such as baseball, football, hockey, soccer, etc would be a good thing

NASCAR was developed in the South, in a region known informally as the "Bible Belt" due to the prevalence of fundamentalist Christian churches. With NASCAR's roots being so firmly lodged in this region, it has long been a tradition to begin the races with a prayer for the safety of the drivers, crews & fans.
Baseball & Football don't have the same claim since they were developed in more 'liberal' regions that have less respect for Christianity, therefore a pre-game prayer is not traditionally associated with those sports.

Because baseball and football caught on in a time when religion was private, not public. Organized public prayer was considered tacky and disrespectful of people who may not share your beliefs.
NASCAR gained popularity recently when those traditional values are not longer en vogue.

I don't think you would be kicked out for praying at any event. Perhaps there is a greater amount of diversity at baseball and football games, people with many different backrounds and beliefs, and a mass prayer would not be appropriate.

Because NASCAR fans are God-loving and know where their blessings come from. I don't know why a prayer isn't said in other sports. It seems like a good way to start any event.

I don't know about you but I pray every time the Diamondbacks take the field!
Organized prayer is great, but personal prayer is even better.

Sad to say that baseball and football seem to have broken from any traditional roots it might have had.

NASCAR's origin came from the south where they are more conservative and traditional. It's good to see they continued this tradition all these years.

Because you have more of the religous right (i.e., rednecks) that are interested in NASCAR and there isn't anyone there who is educated enough to care about it.
