"The Hobbit" is probably worthwhile if you enjoyed "Eragon." I'd also recommend "Farenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury and "The Borribles" by Michael deLarrabeiti. Lloyd Alexander's books, like "The Book of Three," "Westmark," "The Iron Ring" or, especially, "Time Cat" or "The Cat Who Wished to Be a Man" lend themselves to school book reports very well and are absolutely wonderful reads no matter what age you are.
Good luck on the report!

If pirates are your thing, the book Pirates! by Celia Rees is a great one.
Lord of the Rings is a little wordy and extremely long, but they are good.
If you feel up to it, David Eddings has two series out there that are great. The Belgariad if the first, the second is the Malorian (sp). They are both five books long, but you could do your report one just the first of either of them. I would read the Belgariad first. The first book is The Pawn of Prophecy. It's about 350 pages long I think... It's been a while since I've read it. It's all brain candy though. I read both sets in the 7th grade, so you should be fine.

My favorite books in 7th grade were: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and The BFG, which are by Avi and Roald Dahl, respectively. Charlotte Doyle is about a girl on a ship in the 19th century when the crew mutinees and she becomes a pirate. Very exciting. The BFG is an easy read, its a really funny book about a girl kidnapped from her orphanage by a friendly giant. Good luck!

If you liked Eragon, Eldest and Potter I would highly recommend King Fortis the Brave - about a pair of twins that are pulled into a magical world where they are caught up in a battle for control of the land. Action. Adventure. Humor. King Fortis the Brave has it all!

You might want to take a look at Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. The writing is wonderful, it might not be exciting enough for you; it's thoughtful. If you like Sci-fi and fantasy, you might like the Dunne series by Frank Herbert. They're really exciting and full of these weird giant worms (instead of dragons). Try those. I think you will enjoy them.

In the 7th grade, I read:
The Witches (By Roald Dahl)
The Lord of the Rings (J.R Tolkien)
Chinese Cinderella (Adeline Yen Mah)
There were more, but they're the best... Chinese Cinderella is excellent for a book report.

Don't know where to tell you to look for it, but "Animal Farm" was really good. Read that a long time ago. Also Jack London wrote good stories, "White Fang", etc. "To Build a Fire" by him was also excellent. "My Side of The Mountain". My favorite book ever was "Just David", very old book. You would probably have to go to your interlibrary system to find it.
