This past Tuesday, President Bush signed into law the "Military Commissions Act". This allows Bush to arbitrailly declare ANYONE, including U.S. citizens an unlawful enemy combatant, without charge or trial for the duration of the "War on Terror". He can subject captives to strenuous interrogation(torture?) The Act also provides amnesty for U.S. officals , including Bush and others who may have authorized torture, murder or other human rights violations. Whatever happened to the U.S. Constitution? Corruption, war, lies and indifference to human misery are the hallmarks of this administration. Land of the free? Only if it is okay with Bush. And now we find out Bush was authorizing illegal wiretaps before 9-11. And all this in the greatest democracy the world has ever seen. How can you let this happen?

This is for you Jack. I see the big picture. So judging by your response, you are okay with the Act. If Bush decided that You are a terrorist, locked you up without trial, indefinitly, that you are okay with that? That is my question.

... wire tapping has been going on for years (google echelon) ... but who knows why americans dont speak out anymore ... they bought the 911 lie hook line and sinker and now live in fear of a completely fabricated "enemy" in the form of a shadowy terrorist that can never be defeated and get indoctrinated with a daily brainwashing session on their tvs' ...

I think what we are seeing is a mixture of feelings. There are some Americans like yourself who believe it would be a crime to allow the Mosque to be built near Ground Zero. While others are indifferent to it. I think we need to look at this and ask ourselves, what is most important here? Is preserving the sanctity of the WTC site something that would be more respectful to the families of those killed? Or would it be better to allow the Mosque to be built to show the Muslim nation that we are at least trying to mend the brokenness that 9/11 caused? From what I can see right now, many Americans feel that it would be dishonorable to allow the Mosque to be built. A lot of the reason has to do with Americans still having the stigma of the Muslim faith being violent. In all sincerity those who carried out the attacks happened to be Muslim or Islamic, but to brand all Muslims in that way now, doesn't bode well for future relations. I myself am indifferent to it. But the bottom line is, our country still hasn't healed because if it had, then this wouldn't be an issue. There is still a tensity regarding the Muslim faith and this is why the issue has risen.

What the h***did you Americans expect. You elected the son of the Head of the CIA - not counting a father (that lost a war)..! Were you ALL asleep? I am more and more amazed at the number of educated people that know nothing about their own current HISTORY. You all allowed this needless slotter to happen, your allowing it continue, and to GROW - Saddam was never the problem, for God's sake, under G.Bush, when he was head of the CIA - you were supporting him. Saddam was NEVER a TERRORIST. He bloody Shot them in the streets! - President Bush knew who attacked the Twin Towers! that is why there was very little, or no expression on his face when his Aid interrupted him at that school and told him. It was HIS PLAN to invade, under any circumstance. Poor Tony Blair, fell for the crap and look what has happened to him. Now Bush is saving his *** - because he knows, that down the road, he will be charged for WAR CRIMES - and by then, non of these ACTS he has passed will save his soul. Now go figure out WHY there is such a HATE on - Anti-Americanism! - everywhere you go you leave a trail of disaster, thousands of innocent lives lost, all for the Greater Good of America... the World knows what you are like - and has know for decades - now you as CITIZENS are starting to see the reflection. Take care of your OWN DOMECTIC problems FIRST, before you invade innocent countries! Now your suffering your OWN backlash! How does it feel? Stop Now before your Kill Us All.

Lets see any president in front of children hears that would you make a seen or sit straight faced and keep calm. A true leader does not just jump but keeps their cool.
And for your laws, you elected everyone in congress and the majority by what was written supported it.
So on your November election vote the ones out who voted for it then reopen it, and make it an issue across your land.
But if I am not mistaken does not your constitution protect American citizens more than non citizens?

By 65 yeas to 34 nays (Vote No. 259), Senate passed S. 3930, to authorize trial by military commission for violations of the law of war, after taking action on the following amendments proposed thereto.
There were a lot of democrats who voted for this act. This was passed by the house and senate BEFORE the president signed it. Do a little more homework and you'll feel much better.

Because the Dems. want to support the terrorist and give them rights that our people have died for. If you step back and look at the big picture, you will see that the terrorist and the Dems. both are using our laws to defeat our country.

Think, really THINK about this. How many rights do you and your family have if the terrorists kill you and yours? How many? Please LIST all the 'happy times' you'll have on this earth AFTER you're dead. I say this, obviously because I don't think you've been able to grasp the 'REAL THREAT'. And they've (the terrorists) not only threatened, but have succeeded. And continue to try more. Don't you understand how DEADLY SERIOUS this is. Now I could argue 'semantics' with you on the subject of 'rights and constitutionality', but that's 'moot' if we're DEAD.

Everything happens for a reason..whatever it takes to destroy terrorism in this world we should do..its a necessary evil to engage in wars to preserve any kind of humanity in this world we live in,as ironic as that sounds.

Bush is doing exactly what the terrorists wanted. By eroding our liberties and freedoms, the terrorists win.
Just another example of shortsighted, inept Bush and Republican leadership, and a significant reason why they must be removed from office for the sake of preserving the nation.
