I believe cause the sport is not high scoring. Look at basketball, they score a ton of points. American Football is the same way. I think that Americans want that high scoring atmosphere. I don't believe the saying if it was not invented in the USA, we don't like it. I do live in the states and I do believe that soccer is a great game.

Its because the American people have marketed and portrayed American Football and baseball in a better light than soccer. Most users on this forum often use the term "Soccer is for Pansies" which is completely wrong because we soccer players have twice as more stamina and fitness than nay NFL player. Its just that if they would've been exposed to Games like Football(soccer) at a mass level,Americans wouldn't have been what they are now.we Cannot blame them .

Americans like soccer, it's introduced in our school sports programs, there is national leagues and minor leagues, and we were in the World Cup this past summer, it's just not as much of a frenzied sport as it is in most of Europe. There is plenty of room for people to like multiple sports. I think the reason it's not as embraced is that American Football was established as an age-old tradition and represents most of American school sporting systems. Basketball is another sport that is highly appreciated. Regional preferences apply to this too. A lot of people in Minnesota and Wisconsin, for example, love hockey. Some places love lacrosse.

I would not say that Americans don't like soccer, but we just had limited exposure to soccer. As the immigrant population has grown, so has the exposure to soccer. However, soccer, or football as it is known for other countries, will never replace football, basketball and baseball in America.
Just like people who come from places where soccer is a major part of their culture, they may never be interested in the American version of football. Personally, I find soccer to be exciting.

Whatever the reason is, it's a shame. I absolutely love soccer (and I don't know why we call it that instead of football, that's just dumb). It might be because most americans are lazy, and it would kill them to run for 90 minutes. I wish soccer was as popular here as it is absolutely everywhere else in the world.

Basically the american mind needs stimulation. You see hockey...it had to be re-done to score more goals. If there are not a lot of points scored and constant action people get bored quickly.
