Psssst! Hey. Take a look at any standard application form and you will see that both white and black are listed for Caucasians and African Americans and the other races by their proper ethnic groups. It's not ONLY the Caucasians who get generalized by a color. It's been going on for so long it's hard changing it.

Wait lady...does ****** and ****** ring a belll?...Before Whites considered themselves superior because of their colour (more like used to)....whites belong to many different regions..Russia, Europe, America, they are supposed to be called Caucasian by the way (but 'Whites' is so much easier) .. now people can't mention their regions cause it would'nt be the same for everybosy...where as in the case of African-americans everybody knows that they belong to Africa, or in the case of Lations Latin-america....so they find it easier to differentiate through regions then colour.....

The term 'blacks' was considered offensive by some and is not widely used nowadays. We call whites 'whites' because they are the majority race in America and thus there won't be charges of racism. After all, you CAN discriminate against the majority race but not the minority races.

I think it can be considered racism just like calling a black person black can be, it is all in the meaning when it is said.
I disagree that 'whites' are the majority in the USA anymore.

Our own government is a GOOD example of this.
If you ever read/see any government documents asking for race, and the categories, you see:
1.African American
2.Asian American
3.Latino/Hispanic American
4.WHITE
et al.......
Don't "WHITE's" have a heritage?
Politically correct term for "WHITE's":European-Americans

personally I don't see it. I have tried putting white paper even white bread next to my very pale northern european skin and I am not white.
I think a more accurate description would be beige.

Its considered politcally incorrect to name a persons colour. I don't know why, the blacks used to have a " black and proud" slogan but I guess the gays hijacked that too.
