I'm with you on Torrid, but they can be a bit *too* trendy. Old Navy's plus line has plenty of "basics", and you can always accessorize from there (because good accessories are the key)
Dress Barn, Catherine's, Avenue, Lane Bryant, Torrid (although they're like a "goth/rock" store), Kohl's, Target has a good plus section, Eddie Bauer, Fashion Bug, Dots, Ashley Stewart, Blair are some more off the top of my head
I personally like www.igigi.com

almost all Fashion Bug stores now have it divided in two sections. One side sizes ?-16 the other side 16-?. They both have like the same thing on both sides. The same goes for a store called Debs . I think their sides are 00-14 & 16-26. But they both have really cute clothes. debs is more affordable. theres also Layne Bryants. Thier clothes are more expensive, but they have everything. And its all "big girl" sizes, your lucky if you can find a 14 or a normal L in there, They also have catalogs, but I think thats all old lady looking. The stores have younger looking sfuff. Thieir clothes hold up though. I've had one shirt for like 6 years from there, Its still cute & dosn't look old at all. Theres also a store called Dots. They have alot of cute things, at affordable prices, but they don't cater to real big chicks. Its just that some shirts go up to 2x's. All these are in Ohio though. But the majorty of them are national chains, so it should be the same everywhere. If you'll be in an area where theres alot of "big" people, the walmart might sell stuff in those sizes. Theres 2 walmarts in my area, I can never find anything that fits in the one, but the one in the next town over, it all fits!!!

many shops in the states do not sell plus sizes unless you go to specific shops. I dont know about America, but in Canada we have a shop called penningtons and in the UK there is a shop called Evans. i would try looking up your favourite shops online because they may stock bigger sizes, also ebay has a lot of good, cheap clothes for sale!
