A very good series to start with is Angelique, Marquis of the Angels by Sergeanne Golon. There is a series of 13 books translated into english from French. You will be hooked and a fan for life! The only thing is you will have to search for them on ebay because the books have been out of print for sometime. You are guaranteed to love Angelique, a beautiful young french woman (of course), as you read the adventures in her life. It is historically accurate during the time of Louis XIV. Enjoy!

Okay, this is the perfect book for you. "The Center of Everything."
a great read, quirky and thought provoking. Too bad you don't like science fiction; I would recommend The Time Traveler's Wife. It's not really Sci-fi, but has some elements - it's more like a love story. You can't put it down.

Try The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult, The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd, anything by Jennifer Weiner or Marian Keyes, or Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. You can look up synopses of these books at Bordersstores.com or amazon.com.

Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore. Very easy to understand.
He presents an alternative to psychological issues; Care instead of Cure.
The 4 Loves by C. S. Lewis. You have to focus. It is deep. Borrowed wisdom.
Welcome to the Monkey House by my favorite author, Kurt Vonnegut. Not Sc-Fi. Satire and social commentary. Short stories. All are gems. Lessons and laughter. Could anything be better? Pleasure meeting you. Happy reading.

"The Kite Runner" by Hosseini is excellent. My favorite book is "All the Pretty Horses" by Cormac McCarthy (read the trilogy). Right now I'm reading "Street Boys" by Vincent Carcaterra. Any of the Dick Francis mysteries are terrific. Jude Devereux's books are good.Sara Paretsky's mysteries are good too.Hope that gives you some ideas and a variety of genre.

I find the best way to choose books, is either find another story by an author I like, or go to the book store and just enjoy getting lost there a day. If you find the section of the last book you enjoyed, chances are you'll enjoy somthing in the same section.

You might want to read some of our favorite book club selections: "Atonement" by Ian McEwan ..an event witnessed by a child who misconstrues what she has seen, with life- altering results. Also "Saturday" same author. "Middlesex" by Eugenides... imagine starting out life as one sex only to discover a mistake has been made. "Garlic and Sapphires" by Ruth Reichl who was the food critic for the NY Times. She had to adopt disguises to review restaurants incognito. These ought to keep you going for a while.

One of the better book I ever read is "The Pillars of the Earth" written by Ken Follett.
It's a story of the cathedral builder in the middle age.
There's always something happen, it isn't possible to boring again.
