According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Envy

Envy is an emotion that "occurs when a person lacks another’s superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it.

In some cultures, envy is often associated with the color green, as in "green with envy". The phrase "green-eyed monster" refers to an individual whose current actions appear motivated by envy. This is based on a line from Shakespeare's Othello.

Also, I found this interesting in the article: Hatred is often envy in disguise.
Hatred is often associated with the color red. Therefore, I would state that a relative color associated spectrum for this emotion could be anywhere from Red to Green (and anything in between).

Envy is most closely associated with the color green. In the Shakespeare play, Othello, envy is considered a "green-eyed monster", and may have been the source of the association between the two. Here's where the reference is found.

Oh, beware my Lord, of iealousie,
It is the greene-ey'd Monster, which doth mocke
The meate it feeds on.

To quote Kermit the Frog, "it's not that easy being green, having to spend each day the color of the leaves, when I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold or something more colorful like that..." That's me, green, also the color of envy. Maybe that is why I am doomed to blend into the woodwork!
