I normally start my period on a Monday night around 8 p.m. Does that count as my first day, or would it be Tuesday since that is my first full day? Just curious since I am trying to get a better idea of when it is I should ovulate.

The first day of your period is the first day when you see red blood. I am trying to conceive and was wrong for many years. I always counted the first day as the day I began spotting but my GYN doctor informed me it was the first day red blood appears on the pad and you actually flow. This means I have been throwing off my ovulation by one day because I have always counted day one as the first day I saw the light spotting which occurred for me the day before the actual flow.

Yes, on average, a woman's period occurs exactly 28 days after the previous period started. A very average, regular woman would start on the same day of the week every time! However, not every woman's cycle is 28 days. Mine is about 31, and some women have cycles far less than 28. Just depends on your body, eating/ excercise habits, health, history, etc.

Honey, it could be on a Wednesday, or a Saturday...You cannot go by the day, at all. Its suppose to be, anywhere from 26-30, days from your last one. So, what I would recommend you do, is get you a cheap calendar, either at a bank, from your mom, a friend, or a Dollar General. If you dont already have one. When your full fledged-bleeding starts. Not spotting. Full-Flowing, starts. Right it down on your calendar, in your own initials, that only you, knows what it means, like I right started R. on that day.The day I'm fully-flowing. Not, spotting, and forget about jotting down the last day, it makes no difference, to doctors, or at all, for that matter. Except, when you think you might be pregnant, then it matters how long your periods, are. Even then, I dont think its a Popular thing, for a woman, to worry about writing down the last day. However, just so you know when you next one, should be due, to get prepared, for accident's in your jeans or white dress...Count, 26, days, from your last writing on your calendar, and mark, on the next month , in tiny words, expect R., (or your own initials, for remembering what that means). And when the next month comes, you will be prepared. By, checking your calendar, when its time to flip it for the next month. You will be prepared, with your pads, or your, tampons, because you will have already marked your calendar. So, dont go by the day, its just coincidence, that it fell on those days. ONLY!!! You have to go, by the every 26-30, days. Even a Gynocologist, will tell you this. Good-Luck, Smile!!!!
