How can I get temporary PA plates here in NY on a car that I am giving to my son, who lives in PA, so that he can he drive the car from NY to PA? The NY plates from that used car were transferred to my new car.

Go to the DMV and explain the situation. I'll bet they have had this happen before. They will have a solution that will include you to pay a tag fee and get fixed up legal. That's just the way it works.

Best way is to have your son register and insure the car in PA. Send him the papers. He can then come up to NY with his plates slap them on and be on his way. Lucky son of-a-gun....getting a free car....

just go to dmv and tell them whats up . or use some from another car till ya get there
