If you want to make a recipe that includes raw eggs -- such as royal icing, home-made mayonnaise, or meringue -- only do so if you can use pasteurised egg products, which are available in larger supermarkets. Pasteurisation heats the eggs and kills the bacteria.
Don't eat them anywhere else, as you don't know if the eggs have been pasteurised.
I'd advise you not to eat them - it isn't too big a sacrifice for peace of mind.

To be on the safe side I would stick to the hard cooked meringue, the kind you get in pavlova, but avoid the softer meringue that you get on top of lemon meringe pie. That's usually just browned rather than cooked right through.

you can make them with dried egg white-- doesn't taste as nice though.it wouldn't be a good idea to eat meringue whilst eating out in a restaurant whilst pregnant.alot of shop bought meringue will say on the packet what its been made of.
- same goes with mouse (ie chocolate)- saw someone pick mould off one before going to serving it once-- these had been made in traditional way with raw egg whites. minging

it's just because of the eggs and the fact that they are pretty much raw by the time you eat it, the same with cookie dough, majority of times you'll be perfectly fine, it's only a problem if you happen to get eggs contaminated with salmonella, which doesn't happen very often, i ate lemon meringue pie while I was pregnant, I forgot about the eggs, lol. the chances are slim that you'd get sick from it, it's more just a precautionary, just like deli meats, good luck

I don't see why not, it is only egg white in meringue. However to be on the safe side I would only eat pasturised eggs.

Yes. so long as the egg white is well cooked it will be okay.
The only problem is when a boiled or poached egg is left too soft & may not be cooked through.

Ally's answer is spot on. It's safe as long as the eggs used to make it were pasteurized.

If it is cooked it should be fine, however a cooked egg might be more healthful. Minus the sugar, you know? Salmonella sucks.
