I'm going to have an ultrasound @31wks to see the size and weight of the baby!!!! I've been worried that my stomach isn't big enough, even though my doctor says all is fine (measurements, weight gain, heart rate, and fetal movements, which are ALL the time)!!! He's doing it to put my mind at ease. Has anyone else had an ultrasound around this time? And was it accurate? Thanks 1st pregnancy, and no I'm not overweight, I was 5'6" and 118 to start, my torso's kinda long too!!

Hi. The ultrasound at 31 weeks is very accurate to determine the size and weight of the baby. As a matter of fact, I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks and it was accurate. It's amazing and very cool! You are doing the right thing by insisting on an ultrasound.

Good luck and put your mind at ease that everything is okay. Some women get very big during pregnancy and others don't get quite as large. You are fortunate!

Don't worry so much; you're still 31 weeks along and the baby gains most of its real weight during the last weeks of pregnancy. If you stress and worry, you won't do your baby good! Try to relax and enjoy the last weeks of pregnancy; and just so you'll be prepared, ultrasounds usually measure the approximate weight and height of the fetus, so he/she could be a little smaller than predicted. But I will tell you my experience. At 32 weeks my baby weighed, according to the ultrasound, 4.3 pounds. Two weeks later I delivered prematurely and my baby weighed 3.10 pounds.

All he had was low body weight; praise the Lord!! He was born perfectly fine, and healthy; no respiratory problems, not a single thing. He is now almost 7 months old and thriving, so keep a positive mind and pray a lot for you and your baby; you'll receive your biggest blessing in a few short weeks. Congratulations!

Everyones body is built different. I really didn't start showing that was really pregnant till I was about 32 weeks, it was like BAM! I have a belly! it was kind of amusing. Also, at 31 wks, your baby hasn't dropped so you could be carrying almost "long" and not really a big beach ball. Now for the ultrasound, he/she probably just wants to do a check up on your baby. I wouldn't worry about it unless the doctor gives you a reason to worry about it. At this ultra sound they may check for amniotic fluid as well. As for it to be accurate? Your measurement are going to be close but not absolute, it can be off by a pound either way and inches either way it is really hard for them to tell. Best of luck to you!

An ultrasound at 31 weeks will be very accurate. I believe that a baby is fully grown between 39 and 42 weeks. I have an ultrasound at 20 weeks and they were able to tell that he was a boy and how much he weighed and all of that. I know that it's very nerve racking having your first baby, but I wouldn't worry about it! Being stressed about things just makes you upset, so just calm down, and everything will be great! Congratulations on having a baby! =)

Ultrasounds are accurate at 31 weeks. Also people gain weight in different ways. Some people will gain very litte weight and you can barely tell they are pregnant unless you get a good look at their stomachs. Others gain a lot of weight and you can tell a mile away.

I had a friend who was a bigger girl and until I saw a her bare stomach at like 8 or 9 months pregnant (they were hiding it because they were initially going to give the baby up for adoption), she always wore baggy clothes and barely gained any weight.

Yea, I actually had a total of 5 ultrasounds during my pregnancy because my stomach was actually growing too fast. Turned out I just had a lot of amniotic fluid. They take a measurement of the baby's belly, leg and arm and give you an estimated weight (give or take 5 oz I think). Try not to stress too much about your baby's health because stress is the worst thing for both you and the baby. Good luck and congrats!

i exchange into informed via my Dr and that i even have study that the early ultrasound is the final prediction of due date. the clarification is that each and every person little ones improve on a similar cost interior the initiating- they're a similar cells multiplying and if a common being pregnant, they are assembly a similar milestones in utero. subsequently the date is particularly top on. According to the Pregnancy Weight Gain Calculator, you should weigh about 142 lb now. See for yourself:

The focus should not be so much on how much weight you are gaining but how well you are eating!

Remember there is no right shape for your growing belly. Some women carry their baby high, some low and some hardly show at all.

Your Baby is now measuring about 16 inches long and weighs about 3.3 pounds.
From now until the end of your pregnancy, your baby will gain weight faster than he'll increase in length. By now the baby's lungs and digestive tract are nearly mature. Your baby's irises can now dilate and contract in response to light. Due to the deposits of white fat underneath the skin your baby's skin is no longer red, but is now the wonderful newborn pink color. His fingernails may reach the end of the hands, too.

An ultrasound to check size/weight can be off by 2lbs in either direction. It can measure things like bone length, head & rib cage circumference, but it can't measure how much fat & muscle the baby has.

I had an ultrasound @ 35 weeks, and they told me my baby was about 6lbs. When he was born 3 weeks later, he was only 6lbs, 5 oz.

Don't worry about belly size, especially if you have a long torso,

The ultrasound will be accurate no matter when you have it. The question is, can the doctor get valuable information about the growth of the baby at any specific time.

Yeah, ease off and relax. Stress is not good for you. Congrats
