The worst thing this country ever did, was take away the ability of teachers and parents to punish children. My grandfather was given the cane or the slipper on numerous occasions, and I can honestly say he's a better man than I will ever be. These do-gooders are all shouting in the name of child abuse, but to be honest the whole thing is on it's head now and they should be worried about kids abusing adults and each other!

If the law is in their favour and much against the elders, then the children will continue with their felonious behaviour. You cannot name or shame child troublemakers as this is viewed as abusing their human rights. Even Tony Blair has tried to float new ideas in a bid to combat loutish behaviour in schools, but who complaints the loudest, none other than the parents of these uncouth children!
The children seem to flout the law knowing that there will be protected so in a way the elders are now feeling the pinch of the laws they drafted for their children. So it should be back to the drawing board for those who initially came up with these laws, apart from that, nothing will solve this problem. Their behaviour sometimes is even encouraged by both government and schools. Recently a certain school admitted that it had set aside a smoking place for the students. Isn't this sanctioning smoking in pupils who initially shouldn't be damaging their lungs in the first place? The government on the other hand allows girls below the age of 15 to abort without seeking consent from their parents. In a way this urges them to explore the fantasies of sex and leads to girls becoming young mothers.
There appears to be no interest in sport for most pupils as most of their time is taken by this loutish behaviour. If you are rude and play truant at school, and take drugs you will easily be nurtured into the "yob culture." Parents and teachers' powers are curbed so all we just do is moan until children's rights are re-drafted.

Yes. Children and teenagers no longer have respect for adults - even their parents as they know that nothing can be done to stop them. The right for parents and teachers to punish them effectively has been taken away and they know it so they just keep behaving inappropriately as they can gat away with it. Society needs to stop being afraid of them and do something about it. Stop making excuses for them by saying they have nothing else to do or they have had a poor childhood and help parents to instil respect and ambition in their children!

I agree with you 100%,the problem is that there is no discipline in the lives of kids today, yes,I'm talking about them getting one round the earhole like I got off my dad and my son got off me.it's done no harm in either case. You have to teach children self respect before they can respect others. The faults lie in various places,i.e. the parents don't give a toss about their kids or what they are doing,no discipline in schools anymore, mealy mouthed social workers and judges patting them on the head and saying "Plase be good and don't do it again,What a hell of a state things have got to,and if I sound like Victor Meldrew, bloody good show!!!!!

The worse thing about the children and teenagers who do just as they like and upset every body including the well mannered and well behaved kids, is that one day soon they will become parents. Then god help us all.

It is a sad fact of life that "a child can do whatever they want maliciously and it is an offence to stop them". These liberal do-gooders who make the rules are so out of touch with reality that they'd look out of place even in a mental facility, but don't need to worry since they are couped up safely in their castle like homes with 24 hour security.

I agree, I used to be a councillor and tried my hardest to get better conditions for the kids, we asked them what they wanted etc, they could not even be bothered to try for themselves or make any sort of effort to help us to help them. All they seemed to want to do was to moan about their 'lot'. As for the do gooders, have they tried to walk through our inner cities lately? I have and I certainly feel intimidated.

yes, i agree, and i blame the parents for not getting up off their lazy backsides instead of sitting smoking and imbibing all day. the kids of these so called parents should drag their parents to parenting classes so they can stop themselves ending up losers like their mams and dads.
