This seems so hard. I dont want to play games or dowload movies or store millions of songs. I dont even need much memory since most of what I would save will be on my thumbdrive. All I want is something that can run basic Office programs like Word and Powerpoint and get wireless internet.

Is ebay really the best place? If so does anyone have any recommendations for what laptop companies to avoid?

I still say ebay - but do research - double check the sellers feedback and the items the person has sold - if they have sold a bunch of candles and then bam - a laptop, maybe questionable. As for companies - my friend has a dell and is pretty happy with it. However, it was bought new not used. For what you are looking for, I think it would be better to worry about if you are geeting what is being sold and truthful to the listing than the actual computer company. Good luck!

You should look on http://www.caretotrade.com. It's a free trading website that lets you buy, sell, or swap items & services. I know that there's at least 1 laptop on there right now, possibly more. Give it a shot.
