I have the instant type and find them yummy
I went to Beaufort, SC and had them but it was many years ago
How do you make a real grit and where could you buy them in the north.
And what's the best thing to add to them

Okay, I love this question. :) Grits are made of corn, and you can buy them in the grocery store, they'll take 20 minutes or so to prepare. Yankees eat them with maple syrup or sugar or whatever, but in the south we eat them with butter and salt and pepper. They are delicious.

When I moved to SC from IN, I was asked if I wanted grits. Not knowing what they were I said yes. Never again. Grits taste like "sand, with water on top"
People say I should have put butter, or honey on it. My parents are from IN also but moved to FL. Every Christmas I buy dad all the different boxes of grits. He enjoys them with butter or honey, or bacon bits on top.
I don't know what Grits are.

instant grits lol, hahahaa. I live in south carolina and eat grits daily for breakfast, I like to add salt, pepper, butter, cheese and mix my fried egg into the grits. A grit is milled corn.

I love grits with butter, but I'm not sure what they really are. I've been converted into a southern girl living in Florida for nearly seven years :)
I'm pretty sure they're sold at the grocery store...

I'm from the South. I don't like grits. I think they come from cornmeal or something. Best thing to add with them would be butter and sugar!

Oh, ick. No, I don't like grits. The texture makes me feel like I'm eating boogers, and the taste is pretty bland and dull.
Grits are very popular down south, though. (Or so I've heard.) They are often eaten with butter.
My mom and dad both like them, though.
I'll rather have oatmeal with a pile of brown sugar. =)

grit is something u get in ur eyes if u puff on a joint an the smoke blows bk into ur face and no i dont like it

Never got into grits, but cream of wheat, which is almost the same thing, is pretty good.
