at swim meets i usually do very well in my events if i am all warmed up and toasty to go.
the thing is i cool down really fast. like if i arrive at my lane a 100 before my body turns numb and i feel like i can't swim to my best potential. this mainly affects me in 50 free.
tips on how to stay warm and not let this affect my swim?

I do that too...
What helps me is to immediatly put on sweats, or a sobe or a really really warm parka. Also wear sandals and a jacket with a hood. You loose the most heat out of your head and feet.
Next jump around before getting out of the warm up pool, get out as late as possible and you could try warming up longer too. All these things help me.
GOOD LUCK

Warm up until the event before yours and wear a parka immediately after you get out of the water. Take it off only when you have to go on the blocks.

I have the same problem... of course you should keep your body warm, so wearing pants and a jacket can help. but 100 before your event your not going to have that on... so what i do is, i keep myself warming by rubbing my muscles in my calfs and arms. Then i do a few jumps up and down... making sure not fall of course... and arm circles.

Well, After your done warming up i suggest geting some music and sitting alone streaching. Then get behind the block when its 3 heats till your event and keep streaching hipe yourself up and talk to your coach!! I hope this helps!!

Put your warmup or parka back on after your warmup swim, and do not remove it until you are about to take the block.
