I have this friend, and she just won't stop crying, even at school. She keeps saying she's a fool, but when I ask her why she's crying she says she doesn't know. Yesterday though she told me about an incident with a guy, and now he's taking the mickey out of the answer she gave him to the question. I'm really really worried about her..please help.

Do you have a community counseling service of some kind in your area? It does sound like depression, though being an adolescent can be very depressing at times. The world is challenging, but it is worth the battle. There are also school counselors if she is still in school. There are phone calls that she could make to hotlines, like a crisis line. I have this number for in Illinois that is 1-815-433-5606, it is a depression treatment center but they said they would be glad to talk to your friend and maybe help her find resources in her area.

Your friend needs professional help. Talking to a guidance counselor is the best thing you can do. If your friend refuses to go see him/her with you, go on your own. Your guidance counselor will be able to give your friend the help she needs in order to overcome her depression. Most importantly, be patient and supportive of your friend, because she is going through a rough time and needs concerned people like you to help her.

How long has she been doing this, if is more than a couple of weeks then yes, I would say she is probably depressed, if it is just for a couple of days I would give it more time, it may just be a temporary thing that she will get over. Could just be hormonal too. Hormones can do some pretty weird stuff to you.

You definitely need to talk to someone (a counselor, a teacher, a priest) about your friend. She definitely is experiencing some problems right now, and if she is unattended to, she could even become suicidal.

if you are really worried about her then speak to a school counselor. they would then be able to contact the girls parents, and get the girl any help she needs.
