EVERYTHING is dangerous if you don't use it correctly. Including the internet. You need to be wise about using it, protect yourself and your computer, never give out any personal information, and you will be fine.

It is just like everything else we undertake in the world - it is only as dangerous as you allow it to be. If you give out personal info and details willy nilly you are effectively wearing a target for hackers, identity thieves, and potential perves. If however you just use it for browsing and stick to the known safe sites you should be in no danger at all. Do make sure you have a good firewall and anti-virus/anti-spyware installed though.

can very well be... for people with addictive natures, for one thing... spending time chatting or even browsing can start to take precedence over other responsibilities.... can be for folks who are even momentarily discontented with their marriages - porn, one on one chatting - these can get in the way of proactively dousing a fire burning at home... getting hooked on porn is another issue that folks struggle with...

was even a court case a few years back about a man who was suing for divorce because of alienation of affection... his wife's time on the internet took precedence over family responsibilities

at one point, I was so caught up in my on line life that my unlimited ISP sent me a letter that I was going over my unlimited hours and they would start charging me business rates... while I wasn't sitting at the machine the whole time, I was logged on 21 out of 24 hours more days than not

and I have to limit my time on Yahoo answers consciously cause otherwise, three weeks into my membership here, I would already be at level 7

It just depends on you and where you go and what you do. Use common sense and you'll be fine. If you don't have any common sense, well, then you want even know you don't have any so I doubt you'll realize anything dangerous is going on...lol j/k good luck Safe Surfin' :-)

Only if you disclose personal details to unknown sites that ask for them, eg card details during shopping. Sites that are trustworthy include the UK supermarkets and the online options of Web security companies.
