It's both a sad day and an exciting day.
Clarke says that he resigned because he was burnt-out. I tend to doubt that. / He was probably given a choice to be fired or resign to save embarrassment, etc. - Either that or he he felt they were going to get rid of him next so he did it first.
Either way it's long overdue but I grew up in South Phila and in the eary seventies Clarke was a hero to many of us kids and it's hard to hate or turn your back on him.
Hitchcock - I never liked him. He was a winning coach with both Dallas and Phila..............
Dallas // 1996-2002 // 277-166-60 // 47-33*
Phila. // 2002-2006** // 131-83-40 // 19-18
..............but the man never smiles, never seems to be excited when the Flyers score, never pats his players on the back..... never even seems to care about fueling the Philadelphia momentum..... / And I think the Flyers need that.
I don't know much about the John Stevens but I hope he's more upbeat and excitable. We'll see.

Personally, I think Clarke was told to resign instead of being fired. The Flyers need a shake up badly, and that's exactly what Snider did.

crash... we saw it coming since last year the flyers were still prepared for the old NHL and it was a huge shock when they hit the ice for the first time last year. when the flyers were still prepared for the old nhl this year the price is paid with a very sub-par record. Clarke is a horrible GM first of all offering over a million for ryan kleser. Ken hitchcock is still a very good coach and reminds me of pat quinn a lot

Good. Clarke is a goof and Hitchcock is overrated. Philly sucks this year. I haven't seen a 9-1 game in years. Good for Buffalo.

I'm surprised it took this long. The Flyers are in a scoring/winning drought. Hitchcock was loing control and Clarke, well what has he really done for the Flyers?

Plus Boobie seems to have lost an "e" there on his last name so he was losing more than games as GM. Did I see it coming? Well, duh! Did you watch Hatcher get deked out his jock this week. Clarkie is to blame for building the slowest team in the NHL.
Ed Snider is not a stupid owner and no matter how "loyal" he is to Boobie, that was the end. You could see it coming a mile away once Buffy torqued them 8-1.
