Some motherboards let you pick what speed you would like your AGP slot set at. I Assume yours is the same way. I never heard of 1.0 or 2.0 in a version of AGP. They are always have a bandwith of x1, x2, x4, x8. Look in your motherboard manual and see what version you have. Some manual can only be downloaded off the manufactures website.

i have a abit nfs-7 motherboard and have just installed a asus geforce 6200 which is agp x 8,before that i was using a geforce 4 mmx using x4 agp
i never had to change any settings and the geforce 6200 auto-changed the agp settings for me,and it is running in agpx8 mode now
there are a few good benchmarking tools such as si-soft sandra lite(http://www.sisoftware.net/index.html?dir=news&location=2007sp1_release&langx=en&a=),this will give you all the info you need on your agp interface plus all the motherboard,cpu,hard-drive info
you could allways go straight to the makers website for your motherboard info, but you are best to get as much info from the diagnostic utility first to make your search a bit easier
but if you take my advice,as long as your board was made in the last 3 to 4 years any agp card should be ok with the board,a good tip is if the agp slot has a white securing clip it will more than likely be ok as these were brought out at the end of the agp life time
good luck

You have an AGP Pro connector which is good for 1x, 2x, and 4x . And since it is the Pro version is has smarter power handling. Your intel 850 chipset on the board only supports up to 4x AGP

I found a manual on web for this motherboard.

Apparently it's from 2001, and that was when AGP was first entering the market, so most likely that your AGP will only support the lowest speed x1. But you can probably plugin any AGP video card, it's just it will function at x1 speed.

agp is backwards like minded, like ram. an agp x1 interface card will maximum possibly function in an agp x8 slot, however the opposite isn't likely. the x1/x2/x4/x8 characterize the memory bandwidth of the slot, x1 being the backside
