How many of you would work in the fields for 14 hours at $2.00 an hour,
How may of you would pay $6.00 for a head of lettuce.
Pay $5.00 a pound for Apples
Pay $2.50 for an ear of corn
pay $ 30.00 dollars for a cheap bottle of wine...the list goes on, but you know what I mean.....

I guess what i am asking ....is how many people would do those jobs for that pay...and if not...how many of you, would want to pay that much for food. I am against illegals doing this. Don't get me wrong...but no one would do it...and food would cost mad money....

OK, long one here. Yes, we are a nation built on immigrants. LEGAL immigrants. Yes, the Native American thing was wrong, but two wrongs don't make a right. In an ideal hippie pagan friggin society without government, economy monetary systems or anything, I'd be all for just letting it continue. Until some of you libs are willing to change the entire system, though, I kinda like my social security. UNLIKE many anti-illegals, I'm not of the "ship-em-all-back, they're not our problem" mentality. Something needs to be done.

I am still against the idea of illegal immigration, and doing things with absolutely no semblance of order or documentation. People all over the world want to come to the United States. We can't take everyone in the free world. There are plenty of countries WAY WAY worse off than Mexico, and the entire "xenophobic" or "racist" arguement is beside the point. Why don't we fly some of those kids from the Phillippines in instead? At least the Mexicans have some form of shelter. Yes, you know how those |Americans who are bigots are going to feel, but I still think that the pro-illegals' arguement is mainly an emotional one.

It's not just white people that are anti-illegal. White, black, and legal immigrants and 2nd or more gens also oppose this. What about Latino Americans for Immigration Reform (LAIR)? Are they "racist" against people of their own ethnicity or is this just politically correct liberal crap? What about Hispanic-American cultural icon, Caesar Chavez? When alive, he was against illegal immigration, though many don't want to acknowledge that. Thousands come here legally from Mexico, every year.

I had good friends in the military who were of Hispanic descent. Some favorite entertainers are Hispanic, like the late pro-wrestler Eddy Guerrero and gay rapper Deadlee. I'm no conservative by a longshot, but the liberal side is no better on some issues, like this one. They just replace religious nationalism with selectively inclusive ideals of political correctness and being so deafly afraid of offending certain groups. Like how many on the pro-illegal side abuse the term "anti-immigrant" and continue to ignore how often the opposition has said REPEATEDLY that they have no problem with LEGAL migrants of any race, and are against illegal immigration from any race. It's like a two year old with their fingers in their ears going "lalalalala". Ignoring the such a large part of the opposition's arguement by continually and falsely saying "anti-immigrant" this and that only hurts the liberal sides cred in many eyes.

That said, I don't think we should be saying that there wouldn't be so much illegal immigration if legal immigration were easier, like many are saying. We should be asking why are so many (MILLIONS) willing to risk life and limb to escape their situation at home? Not making it easier for them to simply run away.

#1. The language barrier. When 99% of all businesses in a nation dealing with customer relations speak ONE primary shared language, newcomers who are seeking active employment should have to know at least the basics. That goes for any immigrant to any country. (PS: I'm all for teaching our children to be multilingual, but the only reason we see so many "English or Spanish" options is to cater to the illegal Mexican aliens. Why don't we see language options for other groups with a better track record and lower illegal percentage? If they want to SNEAK in to a mostly English speaking country to work around mostly English speaking workers at a mostly English speaking place of employment, the very least that they could do is learn some of the basics. THAT is why I think these language options are a bad idea.)

#2. Social security fraud. Everyone knows the deal with the hospitals being forced to close down. They should have to pay all the same taxes as anyone else. Period.

There's a reason immigration and people in general must be documented. I personally don't blame the illegals or have any kind of animosity towards the humble ones for doing what I might do in their shoes. I think the protesters and La Raza groups are trash. How can you really complain about health care issues when you knowingly SNUCK into the country and had things better than citizens in the first place? So, that's taken away, and they can't afford health care. JOIN the crowd. Citizens should receive it before them, anyway, but many of us are suffering also.

What right do illegal aliens have to complain when citizens, including legal immigrants, also are not able to afford health care? I'm not saying that there is an easy answer for all parties, and something needs to be done about the poverty in Mexico, but I don't agree that just letting illegal immigration continue as is, is an answer. It just screws us. The pro-illegal side just wants to do nothing, it seems like. They're more interested in calling people "racist". I def don't agree with that.

If we would get rid of immigrants, the intellectual level of this country will go down the drain.Look at the statistics of how many american citizen finish colleges, mba's and Ph D's vs. how many people determined to succeed and make life better come from other countries. Don't forget, that every american is an immigrant that has lived here for a while and who forgot about the things his/her ancestor had to go through to make sure you have the life you are living. Some of them are just so narrowminded and spoiled!!! So be more sensitive, the cost of lettuce and apples will not justify the taxes and intellect brought here in the long run.

How dare you refer to all immigrants as field workers? Your ignorance level is amazing. The issue is illegal aliens, not documented people who are here on work visas. You need to take a class and understand there is a big difference between and immigrant and a illegal alien. If you can read a dictionary I recommend you get started.

I would pay what ever it cost to rid our country of the illegal mexicans..at some point the cost of goods would stabilize but if past behavior is any indication the mexicans would keep increasing by millions so the cost to Americans for their free health care, free education, free housing, free food, etc would never stabilize!
No Amnesty (by any name)
Attrition thru strict Local, State & Federal Enforcement
Repeal the 14th Amendment
Representation for Middle-class Americans

illegal immigration in this country is out of control. the immigrants who came here many years ago did it the right way, they worked, learned the language and knew what being in this country meant. the immigrants now seem to want everything handed to them and expect it to be done .. we are catering to them ... and they are even applying for and getting our social security benefits and they have never worked a day of their life in this country is that fair ?? NO !!! .... this country has also accepted everyone including the terrorists from 9/11 ... it's time we close the door and deal with the issues in this country and if that means rounding them up and sending them back to there country then so be it !!!! i for one am tired of hearing "Do you speak spanish" if you are in this country at least learn the freaking language.

Don't call them "illegals" like they are sub-human or something. They want to come to this country because of the horrible conditions that they have to live in. These conditions are caused by 1st world countries like America exploiting the land and the people, so America should have to open the borders if others want to live in better conditions.
