My son is allergic to milk soy and recently he has been reacting to his rice milk. Does anyone have any suggestions on what he can drink? He is 18 months old so I'd rather avoid going back to formula especially since he drank Similac's Alimentum which is quite expensive. I'd also love suggestions of food for him to eat or websites with ideas. Basically any input would be appreciated! :)

all im wondering is if your positive that it is the rice milk that is making him react. maybe there is another thing in his diet that is doing that to him. i dont know what to do about that but you should try to buy products that say gluten free because that sometimes means it is with rice, buckwheat. i am lactose intolerent and i cant have any gluten. so basically me as myself im stuck with eating rice and salades. try those. and if he can have wheat there are many products there but other than that there is cornbread which is nice all warm...mmmm...goes with anything. there is well in Canada not sure where your from there is these cakes that have no wheat, soy, milk at all. they are pretty tasty. there is also cookies but try giving him salades and make mashed potatoes with water instead of milk. its harsh but he might outgrow it just make sure you are 100% positve it is the rice giving him reactions

My children were both milk allergies, but were able to drink soy. When they came off the bottle they would not drink the formula in a cup..this was befroe the days of regular soy milk...so my children grew up on apple juice and other fruit juices.I asked my Dr about it and he said thay as long as they at a good variety of foods they were getting enough calcium. You would be surprised at the different foods that have calcium. Most bread now is calcium enriched as well as cereals and granola type bars. My children are now 27 and 22 and have grown up with no milk products..they are healthy, smart and beautiful. Do not worry too much about it..you sound like a good mom that will make every effort to be sure they eat healthy.

He is allergic to soy milk, but, what about cows milk?
Given his age, I think he may be old enough to try Goats milk , but,I would check with your doctor before I tried anything new.
Good Luck.

Did he get tested for allergies? If he is even allergic to rice, you definitely need to take him to his pediatrician and get a recommendation. At 18month, "drinking" is not very essential. It's what foods he can eat. And if he is that allergy-prone, you'd better get him tested.
