Well.....

If you are even remotely interested in religion... The Left Behind Series.
If you want something fun, light, but engrossing... The Harry Potter Series or The Narnia Series.
If you are just a little geeky and enjoy the days of ancient fantasy... Lord of the Rings Series.
If you have a taste for light Sci-Fi... The Dragon Riders of Pern Series.
If you like travel, learning about other people and places, and real interesting history...anything by Bill Bryson.
If you are a trivia junky... Uncle John's bathroom Readers Series.

All of the above are seriously addictive, ask anyone who has read them.

My favorite novel would have to be The Eight by Katherine Neville.
I recently found out that the book has somewhat of a cult following strangely enough.
Historical and modern crossover. All kinds of intrigue. Secret societies. Murder for power. And a hellava interesting storyline.

Temple by Matthew Reilly about a temple in the Andean jungles and the search for an ancient idol. Amazonia by James Rollins is a search for the source of new herbs that can help save lives from the rain forest. Both books take place in South America and are great fantastic reads. Hope you like them, enjoy!

Wish I knew how old you are and what your tastes are. However, these are the books that have literally had me not moving from the moment I opened them:

Wild Swans, by Jung Chang: a beautifully-written memoir of three generations of women growing up in China, from her grandmother who had bound feet and was sold as a concubine, through her own mother's experience of Mao and the cultural revolution, and finally her own journey to settle in England.

Lying Awake, by Mark Salzman: again beautifully written and had me in tears a couple of times, about a contemplative nun in present-day Los Angeles who, after many years of aridity in the convent life, is gifted with extraordinary visions and poetry; then discovers that this is due to a brain tumour causing epilepsy and has to face the dilemma of whether or not to have the operation and almost certainly give up her visions. A short novel, but quite breathtaking.

A Town Like Alice, by Neville Shute: the story of an Englishwoman take captive by the Japanese in World War II, shown kindness by an Australian prisoner of war who is terribly punished for it, and their amazing search for each other when the war is over and what they do next.

The Amazing Adventures of Kalavier and Clay took my fancy, but it's sort of hard for the first few chapters to get into. It is about two men that laid the foundation for some of todays comic strip life and icons. Also, if your wanting a good laugh, try the Zombie Survival Guide. I know, it sounds silly, but I did find myself having a hard time putting it down. It's a funny book all about what to do if Zombies have taken over your twon or even the world. It takes some courage to openly read it, but you'll have fun doing it. I promise.

I think that Twilight fits that description. It is by Stephenie Meyer. It is about a young teen girl, Bella, who is starting a new school mid-semester. She falls for a boy, Edward, who is unlike his classmates. Seemingly perfect and always mysterious, she is strangely attracted to him despite the fact that she's been told by everyone he doesn't date. Edward's secret: he's a vampire! A good vampire, but dangerous nonetheless! There love story is very well done. And even if you think you hate vampire fiction, this book has a way of winning you over!

Well it all depends on what you like to read... Fact...fiction... I myself love to read about sociology, different psychological disorders and memoirs. A very good book, one of my favorites is a memoir about a young girl who grew up in the Bronx. It is called random family and it really is a great book. As a young woman, she struggles growing up, dealing with many different men, having kids at a young age....Her children and family suffer and live a very poor life full of violence, drugs and different situations a typical person find difficult to over come. If you like memoirs, you will enjoy this book.. Let me know if you read it...!

Fly on the Wall-by e.lockhart
about a girl in manhatten who learns about life (but not in some hallmark corny way) cant say much about it without giving it away but it is pretty good.
some parts you might rather not read but its only like a couple pages out of the whole book.

Go to your library and get some books on cassette tapes or on CD's, they're free to check out and very enjoyable. Listening is much better than reading. I like John Grisham books, Rex Stout books, Michael Conolly, it all depends on what YOU like.
